Every year the Martin Luther King Jr (MLK) Seattle Celebration Committee organizes a large scale celebration in the only geographic jurisdiction named in Dr. King's honor. Morning workshops are one component of the 35th Annual MLK Seattle Celebration, which includes a rally, a march to downtown from Garfield High School, speeches, and a career fair back at Garfield.
Workshop and Volunteer Greeters help us welcome/check-in volunteers, distribute t-shirts, and greet participants attending workshops. Volunteers will help set-up t-shirts and check-in for volunteers and trainers. Some volunteers will join the workshop monitors for a brief orientation and tour of the building. Greeters will welcome people to the building, pass out lists of workshops, help presenters and attendees find rooms where workshops are held, and help anyone with special needs (such as guide people with visual impairment). They may also help workshop monitors (assigned to each classroom) with any specific questions or needs. After helping tidy up the rooms for the career fair, volunteers are welcome to join the rally in the gym and march to downtown. The volunteers are identifiable by a T-shirt that is provided by the MLK Celebration Committee. Workshop descriptions are posted at http://www.mlkseattle.org
Once your volunteer shift is done, you are welcome to volunteer in another capacity, join the rally in the gym, the march downtown, and/or grab lunch in the cafeteria (2pm)!
