Our Mission: Inspiring her pathway towards sustainable success.

Our Vision: At You Grow Girl!, we believe that all female identifying individuals, especially those of color, must be accepted for their authentic selves and supported by a community of true allies, accomplices and mentors who amplify gender, economic, and racial justice.

We will uplift and empower our sisters every day I am Inspiring

We will tell our sisters that we know what we know, but we don't know it all I am Competent

We will try new ideas and methods with our sisters I am Resourceful

We will do what we say we are going to do for our sisters I am Honest

We will not only give support to our sisters, but we will also accept support I am Supportive

From Our Founder, Jamila Coleman

“I started You Grow Girl! because I care deeply about our community and had a vision to create a safe space for girls in the foster care system to tackle their fears and insecurities, build self-confidence and be surrounded by supportive peers and adults. Over 18 years later, and You Grow Girl! is still empowering youth to become leaders in driving economic equity and opportunity not only for themselves but for other sisters throughout Washington State, and beyond.”

What We Do

You Grow Girl! is a 501c3, Seattle-based, non-profit organization empowering girls and young women of color throughout Washington State since 2002. It is our commitment to empower our sisters and their families through comprehensive services that provide development of life-skills, advocacy and self-respect.

  • 90% of funding goes directly to serving our Sisters
