Who We Are
RARE is a not-for-profit equity organization to raise awareness of racial inequities, focusing on Seattle area youth in public schools. We started in the summer of 2020, after the murder of George Floyd, recognizing that we have much work to do in the civil rights arena.
What We Do
RARE manages a scholarship for a graduating student of color from Roosevelt High School in Seattle. We have produced a documentary of the bussing program in the Seattle Public Schools during the late 1960 - mid 1970s. Additionally, we have programs that serve high school students to learn about racial equity, restorative justice and restorative practices. We have Open Discussion events open to the public that focus on promoting our mission.
