Who We Are

Villa Comunitaria, a Latine and women-led non-profit, is a thriving 501 (c)(3) organization that has been serving the community of South Park and South King County since 2005. Since then, the organization has grown in programs and services designed by its participants to cover the needs of families and individuals in a holistic way. Our unique approach and initiatives on community issues have provided a good foundation for current programs in: Economic Development, Healthy Community, Citizenship and Vote Education Skills, and Leadership Development Systems Navigation. Contributing to these programs, we have a strong outreach team who reach out to the most isolated families and individuals and a model of community leadership called Promotoras that gives room for women to participate and contribute with their work and knowledge to shape the content of our programs and services.

What We Do

Villa Comunitaria started in 2005 as South Park Information and Resource Center in response to the need of the local diverse population that existed at that time. Over the years the organization evolve to provide programs designed by its participants. Many of the former participants and volunteers are now active leaders, inside and outside our organization. The culmination of this work is due to a cadre of Promotoras Comunitarias that have put their work into action. The leadership development work in the Latinx population is a job that started in 2013 and the secret to this success is the people that serve the community are part of the same community. Villa Comunitaria empowers families in innovative ways that are culturally relevant. We create a welcoming environment, presentations are made in Spanish, children are welcome and there is childcare, and food provided. Programs are key to helping Latinx immigrants navigate the complexities of the United States immigration, housing, health, education, and legal system so they can thrive and prosper.
