Who We Are

We are an all volunteer board of 9, which meets monthly to determine areas of immediate need to address. GROW fiscally sponsors over 50 gardens in Seattle, with 1 new garden in Shoreline. We are a 50+ year old organization committed to improving food security in our region. We partner with many other organization to leverage our capacity.

What We Do

GROW expands and enhances community gardening by supporting and protecting existing community gardens and by preserving open, urban spaces. GROW builds communities through soil, shovels, seeds, and shared effort. It provides microgrants to individual gardens for project such as fence, and greenhouse building and repair. It provides up to $15k/year to cover low-income gardeners with plot rental fees, managed through the Department of Neighborhoods Community P-Patch Gardening program. GROW provides liability insurance for the 90+ P-Patch Gardens and pays the property taxes for the 9 properties it owns. It supports the cultivation and distribution of tons of produce delivered to local food banks in partnership with the Seattle Giving Garden Network (SGGN). It supports SPU compost giveaway events for neighbors in the areas of the event by providing volunteers. It has also raised funds for purchasing land for additional community gardens, when such opportunities arise, and can be appropriately managed.
