Mercer Island Farmers Market

Who We Are

Founded in 2007, the Mercer Island Farmers Market has grown into a beloved island tradition — a weekly Sunday gathering in the heart of the community, right next to Mercerdale Park. With an average of 2,800 shoppers each week, the market is a bustling hub of fresh food, live music, and community pride. MIFM showcases over 100 Washington-based vendors each season — including farmers, food makers, artists, and small businesses. What started as a grassroots initiative has become a vital part of life on the Island, an “island staple”. Operated by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and guided by a dedicated Board of Directors — led by Board Chair Jerry Kavesh — the market is powered by a small but mighty staff and more than 200 volunteers.

What We Do

Over the years, MIFM has expanded its mission to go far beyond just shopping: - Market Bucks provide food access for those in need - Vendor Gleaning Program donates unsold produce to local food banks and shelters - Youth Vendor Program gives young entrepreneurs a chance to sell their handmade products and experience business-ownership - The Market Studio offers hands-on vendor-led classes - Sustainability education helps shoppers sort compost, recycling, and trash the right way - Community partnerships with local organizations such as the National Charity League, National League of Young Men, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, City of Mercer Island, Mercer Island Parks & Rec, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club of Mercer Island. At its core, the Mercer Island Farmers Market is more than a place to pick up produce — it’s a vibrant, welcoming space where the community comes together to support WA-owned small businesses and connect with each other.
