Who We Are
Katharine's Place is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness through building families up with resources, confidence, and skills. We provide an environment that fosters integrity and dignity through community involvement and on-site programs. We accompany, guide, and empower diverse families as they move from instability and crisis to economic self-sufficiency, personal growth, and a hope-filled life. Katharine's Place opened in 2005 through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Sound Families program. Although funding from this foundation is no longer available, Katharine's Place has continued to support diverse families for the past ten years.
What We Do
Katharine's Place, a program of Catholic Housing Services, is home to 25 families in Seattle's north Rainier Valley. Katharine's Place serves clients with disabilities, those affected by HIV/AIDS, families coming from homelessness, and large families. We work with our families to develop stability and self-sufficiency. A big part of our work is to build community by providing material needs, nourishing programs, and activities for our families to participate in and volunteers are a vital part of this.
