Who We Are
Our mission as forest stewards is to restore a beautiful natural area adjacent to Kubota Gardens to its original native state- the conifer forest and native plants that existed before the Denny party arrived in Seattle in 1851. This site is part of the Green Seattle Partnership's program to restore 2,000 acres of Seattle green belt back to a healthy urban forest. The Green Seattle Partnership is a City of Seattle and privately funded project started in 2,005 between the City of Seattle's parks and Forterra, a conservation agency. GSP trains the forest steward volunteers who organize restoration work parties.
What We Do
Green Seattle Partnership forest stewards organize volunteer work parties to remove invasive plant species and replace them with native plants, shrubs and conifer trees. Since July of 2013 we have been reforesting a beautiful hill between two branches of Mapes creek adjacent to the Kubota Japanese gardens in Rainier Beach.
