Salvation Army: Hickman House

Hickman House is a transitional housing and rapid re-housing program that provides a safe place and additional time for domestic violence survivors to begin the healing process, gather resources, stabilize and begin their journey toward self-sufficiency. Hickman House was established in 1988 to provide the additional time and supportive services that domestic violence survivors and their children needed after 14-30 days in an emergency shelter. Hickman House has served hundreds of families over the years and continues to try and support families during their tenure and after they leave to provide the best chance of staying safe.

Hickman House is a confidentially located program for adult survivors of domestic violence with children, who have become homeless as a result of domestic violence. We provide fully furnished individual apartments, comprehensive case management services for the entire family, financial empowerment education, a children's program, safety planning skills and housing search support. Hickman House has ten apartments for families, staff offices, a children's playroom and an outdoor courtyard.
