Who We Are

Farmer Frog started with a food garden at a school in South Everett, Washington in 2009-2010. Today we support over a dozen school gardens in the state, work with several sites in urban and rural communities, and are developing several farms on acreage. We cultivate programs, school gardens, and hands-on learning to nurture communities.

Before COVID-19, we serviced 25,000 people across the Puget Sound Region, supported school and community gardens, and offered education programs. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we pivoted and began distributing food and personal protective equipment to millions of people across the country, with a particular focus on the Pacific Northwest. Since the pandemic has waned, we have returned to the schools while we keep distribution up and work on expanding our farming operations.

We operate under the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Foundation for Sustainable Community and are registered to do business as Farmer Frog.

Vision: Happy communities living abundantly in a healthy environment.

Mission: Sprouting Simple Change - We grow kids, cultivate community, and nurture habitat for All Living Beings through Real Food.

What We Do

Farmer Frog works to bring about true food sovereignty, a systemic change that is socially just, equitable and dignifying.  We also provide intersectional hands-on food based education with the goals of promoting, teaching, creating, and cultivating art and technologies for sustainable, environmentally responsible, socially conscious, community based small scale farming in the urban, suburban, urban-rural interface, and rural areas. Farmer Frog grows healthy food using wildlife supporting agroecology and regenerative practices. We offer research, outreach, curriculum, and technical assistance. Farmer Frog is a non-profit organization (501c3).

Farmer Frog’s distribution services reach 1.5 million Washingtonians and over 3 million Americans in 38 states, predominantly Peoples from Historically Underrepresented and often remote Communities. Farmer Frog’s STUDIOS provides classes (art workshops, theater, dance, photography, ceramics, cooking/canning/baking) and events (live music, art exhibitions, etc.) for a sliding scale fee. Through our partnership with our sister nonprofits, Western Wildlife Outreach and the National Tribal Emergency Management Council (NTEMC), we participate in a wildlife monitoring program called Bear with Me. Farmer Frog, NTEMC, and The Silent Task Force are leading a regional, multi-state coalition of 700+ entities called The Fresh Food Coalition. Together we are answering the White House’s call to end hunger by 2030.
