Soulumination
Soulumination is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public organization. We provide free, professional photographic services to families who have children facing life-threatening conditions (ages 18 and under) and families with terminally-ill adults at end-of-life (who have children 18 and under).
The life-affirming photographs of Soulumination are an enduring, positive record of the child's brief life, and provide a loving legacy for the children of parents lost to terminal illness. Soulumination was founded in 2005 by photographer Lynette Huffman Johnson.
We are a grassroots organization, growing slowly as we respond to the needs of our community. Since 2005, we have served nearly 700 families. Our work has been nationally recognized and we have had numerous shows of the permanent Soulumination Collection to raise awareness for Tay Sachs research and palliative care.
We work with hospitals, social workers and organizations to help support families as they face profound loss.
There are 40 local photographers who volunteer their time and talent. We fund our photo processing, family gifts and administrative costs through private and corporate donations, and fundraising community events.
Each year, nearly 200 volunteers give their time and talent to make family gifts, run community event. This allows us to keep our operating costs low.
