Who We Are
Immanuel Community Services mission is to alleviate the effects of poverty, hunger, homelessness, and addiction by providing community-based social services to those in need. Immanuel Community Services is the longest serving social service agency in South Lake Union with a long history of helping neighbors in need. SLU Chamber Non-Profit Organization of the Year, 2020.
What We Do
Immanuel Community Services provides food for those who are hungry, hygiene for those who are homeless and shelter for men in recovery from addictions. We operate four programs in South Lake Union: a weekly Food Bank, a monthly Community Lunch, a Hygiene Center offering showers, a meal and laundry services to those experiencing homelessness, and a Recovery Program shelter for men participating in intensive outpatient addiction treatment.
We need your help urgently with our Food Bank on Mondays, and our Grocery Rescue team on Thursdays, Fridays, and during the weekend. Email info@icsseattle.org for more information.
Grocery Rescue Volunteers: Our grocery rescue team helps to pick up food donation from some local grocery stores to help stock our food bank. This team also helps to deliver food to guests who are unable to access our food bank in person.
Food Bank Volunteers: Our Food Bank is open every Monday and volunteers are needed to help distribute the food and provide hospitality to the visitors while they wait.
Community Lunch Volunteers: We need volunteers the last weekend of the month to help prepare and serve a hot nutritious meal to the community. We serve an average of 125 hungry people at our lunch. Shifts are Saturdays from 11:00 to 1:00 to prepare the food for cooking or Sundays from 9 to Noon or 11:00 to 2:00 to finish cooking, serving and cleaning up.
Hygiene Center Welcome Desk - Our Hygiene Center serves approximately 400 people each year. We need volunteers to sit at the front desk to welcome guests and sign-in folks who come to shower, do laundry and find a little respite from the outdoors. We also need volunteers to help prepare meals for our Hygiene Center guests.
