Reading Partners

Our mission is to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results. We envision a future where all children in this nation have the reading skills they need to reach their full potential. Reading Partners was founded by three community leaders committed to improving children's literacy and life opportunities. 

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit organization that provides volunteer-led, one-on-one literacy tutoring to elementary school students in under-resourced schools. We are a highly effective, evidence-based program that has helped tens of thousands of children master the fundamental reading skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. We do this by partnering with Title 1 schools, establishing on-site reading centers equipped with all of our program material, and by employing a full-time Reading Partners site coordinator. Volunteer tutors need no prior teaching experience to truly make an impact. And the best part is...we only ask volunteers to commit ONE HOUR PER WEEK to work one-on-one with a student in need!
