Who We Are

NEST is a “virtual village” located in Northeast Seattle that also serves as the area’s senior center.

Our Vision

To build and sustain a northeast Seattle community where neighbors engage with and support one another through the transitions of aging.

Our Mission

NEST is a community connecting our members with each other and with resources to age successfully in the places they call home.

What We Do

NEST is a member-led, grassroots community in Northeast Seattle. By providing a strong support network through volunteers and trusted business referrals, older residents can stay in the homes of their choosing and stay engaged in the neighborhoods they love, for as long as possible.

NEST's social offerings include educational presentations and workshops, fitness classes, support groups, and special interest groups where members discuss their love of poetry, Broadway musicals, science, and more. Volunteers assist members with transportation, household tasks, home maintenance, tech support, and offer companionship through friendly visits and weekly walks.

NEST is based on the national “virtual village model.” Villages are vibrant, intergenerational communities building connections between neighbors. With 200+ members, over 100 volunteers dedicating more than 5,000 hours annually, and over 500 gatherings and events each year, NEST is one of the nation’s most active villages.
