Who We Are

The mission of Domestic Abuse Women's Network (DAWN) is to lead and support efforts in all communities to end domestic violence by providing the critical services and education for survivors to make informed choices about their future, and engage communities to raise awareness and take action. DAWN has been committed to providing culturally relevant, trauma-informed services to survivors of domestic violence since 1980. Started by two volunteers seeking services for a friend who was experiencing domestic violence, DAWN has grown to offer a continuum of advocacy based services throughout King County. At DAWN, the voices of survivors, their struggles and experiences, guide our work and give meaning to our mission. DAWN saves lives everyday.

What We Do

DAWN protects families in King County from domestic abuse by providing shelter, support and empowerment so they can build secure and happy lives. We lead our community toward the vision of a violence-free future by sharing our expertise and educating people to recognize, respond to and prevent violence. Together, with the support of our generous donors and dedicated volunteers, we build a safe place to live for all of us.

DAWN provides confidential emergency shelter services to women and their children, hosts a 24 hour Advocacy and Crisis Line, provides confidential advocacy services to shelter residents and many others, provides legal advocacy, and offers other trauma-informed services to nearly 5,000 individuals annually.
