Who We Are
The mission of the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank is to provide basic needs to our community members to promote self-sufficiency. In 1982, a group of compassionate seniors from the Issaquah Valley Senior Center saw that other seniors at the center needed food, so they simply began buying it. Issaquah Valley Community Services was created to distribute the food. A program to provide needed food was organized and was so successful that it quickly outgrew the Senior Center. With the city's permission, the program moved to the old School Administration building until 1992. Soon after, a Clothing bank was added near the Community Center. Seeing the need to bring both banks together, the city bought a large truck repair shop which is the current home of the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank.
What We Do
The Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank is committed to providing quality food, clothing and other items to our customers. We have a special emphasis on healthy foods and work hard to get fresh, local produce into the homes of our customers.
Our Clothing Bank is here to provide other essential needs for families: clothing, household items, toiletries and diapers.
If greater resources are needed to achieve stability and self-sufficiency, our Case Manager steps in with one-on-one personalized attention to help families navigate the complex maze of available resources.
The Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank serves those who live within the Issaquah School District boundaries for food and those within a twelve zip-code area for clothing. In addition to case management and referrals, IFCB has a wide range of special programs including Groceries to Go (a home delivery service), the Summer Lunch Program, Lunch for the Break, Issaquah Power Packs, Harvest Issaquah, Tools 4 School, the Holiday Gift Barn and the Birthday Toy Bank.
