Who We Are
Casa Latina’s mission is to advance the power of Latino immigrants through employment, education, and community organizing. Our vision is that the Latino community participates fully in the economy and democracy of this country. In order to realize this vision, our general purpose is to help Latino immigrants empower themselves with education, employment, and leadership opportunities. By providing employment opportunities and community support to Latino immigrants we increase their financial stability and social ties so that they can pursue education and leadership opportunities that help them become fully participating members of our communities
What We Do
Our employment program connects members with day labor and domestic work and allows them to collectively set wages and control working conditions. These short-term but well-paid jobs act as stepping stones to more stable employment.
Our education program provides low wage Latino immigrants with job skills trainings, financial literacy workshops, workplace health and safety trainings and daily English (ESL) classes. ESL classes are essential to prepare our members to participate fully in their communities. Health and safety classes teach our members to stay safe on the job. Job skills trainings help workers develop expertise in fields where they can find employment.
Our organizing program increases the power of day laborers and domestic workers to influence public policy concerning issues that affect them. We develop grassroots leadership amongst our members and expand labor protections for low-wage workers.
