Who We Are

The Vashon Food Bank is a community resource.

What does that mean? It means that we provide a long-term or short-term solution that supports meeting the basic need for nutritious food to all islanders. By offering this resource to anyone in need of support we help to actively reduce food insecurity and empower our community.

In many cases, the food we provide allows islanders to purchase prescriptions, meet transportation needs, and/or pay utilities. This directly improves the quality of life and capacity to engage in the community as employees, volunteers, and neighbors.

"Working together with the community to ensure
that no one on Vashon Island goes hungry".

What We Do

We offer a variety of items, from fresh produce to diapers. Contrary to the stigma surrounding food bank choice, we are lucky to be able to focus on the nutritional value of what we supply. We almost always have fresh milk, eggs, and produce, frozen meats and vegetables, and other protein options like yogurt, peanut butter, and tuna.

In addition to that, we have dairy free options for milk (soy, almond, and sometimes rice milk), and do our best to order, request, and reserve gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and organic items for those who need them.

Distributions are Wednesday and Thursday
10:30am-11am Seniors/Disability
11am-1pm General
5-7pm General

*Home Delivery on Tuesday afternoon is an option for anyone who cannot make it to Distribution.

Thank you for supporting our community and ensuring that all islanders have access to healthy foods. Thank you for turning to us for support , because what we value most is knowing that we make life a little easier, and our community a little stronger, simply by working together.
