Who We Are
For over 25 years, the Redmond Elementary Lunch Buddy Program has provided phenomenal opportunities for our students. In this program, students are nominated by a teacher, staff member, parent, principal, or counselor. These individuals nominate students who will benefit socially, emotionally, and academically from having a one-on-one mentor to provide encouragement, support and individual recognition. Participants range from grades K-5 and have been identified as underserved or at-risk, and often lack stability and/or security within their home life.
What We Do
For one hour each week, our mentors meet with their students to complete crafts, provide homework help, play checkers (or other games) or just talk. There are currently 32 students actively participating in the Lunch Buddy program. Additionally, we have 12 children on the wait list, due to our need for more mentors.
