Who We Are

Friends of the Jungle evolved from a community council called the Beacon Alliance of Neighbors. There are three stewards who've worked on the forest and orchard programs. In total, we've stewarded over 40 acres of park and woodland.

What We Do

Create positive presence in the East Duwamish Greenbelt (aka, The Jungle) through forestry and orchard stewardship. In 2016, we harvested over 1,600 pounds of apples for distribution to a local food bank, cider pressing events for a school and a local non-profit, and for dozens of households. We also maintain the woods at Dr. Jose Rizal Park, making them an inviting place, while improving the habitat for wildlife.
