Who We Are

Partner in Employment(PIE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to address the challenges of employment among foreign-born populations. PIE specializes in helping refugees and immigrants in King County to prepare to work, gain initial job experience, and transition into/maintain permanent employment. PIE has achieved early successes in part because our leadership and staff are themselves refugees and immigrants. PIE’s clients arrive in King County from a host of nations including: Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Burma, Bhutan, Republic of Congo, Central Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of Africa. Many are not able to access available services due to language barriers or lack of knowledge. PIE staff, board members, and volunteers bring a deep understanding of the diverse needs of King County’s new communities, offering dynamic in-language, culturally-competent program design and direct assistance that responsively support new arrivals’ goals of achieving self-reliance.

What We Do

PIE was born of the desire of refugee and immigrant staff to support fellow refugees and immigrants to succeed in joining the labor market and becoming part of Washington’s middle-class. PIE launched in September 2016 in response to the concentrated needs of South King County’s emerging refugee and immigrant communities. PIE's services will be available to emerging communities directly in their King County communities from our office via mobile vans. Mobile services brought to where they live in King County help PIE customers, in particular women, have more consistent and deeper engagement with PIE staff and partners to help them identify career and training opportunities, find jobs and maintain employment.
