School's Out Washington (SOWA) started in 1987 as a pilot project of the City of Seattle, when we provided training and technical assistance to afterschool programs in King County. Over the years, we have expanded our reach across the state of Washington. Starting with just one employee, SOWA today has more than 30 staff and many more coaches and assessors working to achieve our mission.
School’s Out Washington (SOWA) provides services and guidance for organizations to ensure all young people have safe places to learn and grow when not in school. SOWA is dedicated to building community systems to support quality afterschool, youth development and summer programs for Washington’s children and youth ages 5 through young adulthood.
