Who We Are

Turning Point Seattle’s mission is to value diversity, strive for equity and work for the inclusion of all students – giving every student a chance to thrive. We do this by engaging students in tutoring and STEM programs throughout the year, prioritizing low-income students, cultivating community, and building relationships at every level – with students, parents, teachers, principals, family advocates and community partners.

What We Do

Turning Point provides after-school tutoring, community meals and STEM programs, working to close the equity gap for students in the Shoreline School District.

Shoreline Schools, historically white and middle class, continue to increase in diversity – culturally, ethnically and economically. There are 75 different languages spoken at home and more than 48% are students of color. The opportunity gap for students facing racial or economic inequity continues to be a challenge throughout the district.

The students we serve are among the most ethnically and linguistically diverse in the Shoreline School District. Many are bicultural and bilingual, the first in their families to navigate the U.S. school culture. Our work at Turning Point Seattle is to ensure that these brilliant and underserved students reach their full academic potential.
