Group Project Ideas

 

 

Ideas to Engage Volunteers:

  • Skills Based Volunteer Projects

    • Perhaps your staff would like to learn marketing techniques or get trained on excel. Post an opportunity for a small group of folks to come do a training for your staff. If you are looking for volunteers with specific skills, post that and partner with a company that can train you or your clients on those skills.

    • Have volunteers edit your clients' resumes or do 1:1 job training or coaching for your clients

  • Outreach and Awareness Projects

    • Get the word out to let clients know about the work you do. Perhaps a phone-a-thon or canvassing project around the neighborhood.

  • Projects that Engage Clients

    • Does your organization frequently engage with clients? Depending on your client's needs, you could host volunteers to help prep and serve a meal to your clients or host volunteers to help tutor clients.

    • Coordinate an event for your clients. For example, if you work with kids invite them to a library and volunteers can pair up and read to kids or lead a bingo game night for nursing home residents and invite volunteers to help out at the event.

  • Facility Projects

    • Does the garden outside your office need some attention? Or perhaps your building could use a fresh coat of paint? Think about the projects you have always wanted to do but don't have time for or require too much manpower. Day of Caring is a great time to post these projects because you can recruit large groups to help with projects that have been left on the back burner. 

  • Kit Assembly Project

    • Have volunteers assemble hygiene kits or back to school kits for your clients.

    • Have volunteers assemble outreach kits to pass out to the community or prepare mailers to go out to your donors.

Whatever project you choose try to have some time for reflection and discussion to talk about the importance of volunteerism and the impact everyone is making to better their community.
