The Community Food Education (CFE) at Solid Ground fosters community connections through gardening education, sustainable food production, environmental stewardship, and raising awareness about good nutrition and food justice. We also fight hunger by providing low-income individuals with seeds and materials, and supporting backyard gardeners in donating fruits and vegetables grown in King County.

If you share our vision, join us at Marra Farm Giving Garden in Seattle's South Park neighborhood! A Giving Garden Work Party offers an idyllic outdoor opportunity to bond with your coworkers. Dig into soil, plant, weed, and harvest much-needed fresh food for our neighbors as you connect with your team. With the rising cost of food, our local communities rely on fresh produce from Marra Farm more than ever. Help us grow healthy and culturally appropriate food for our neighbors in need!

Time Commitment

Help us kick off the growing season in March and April, or support us during the highest need months of July through September. We’ve already set aside most Tuesdays from 9am to 2pm during the growing season for large-group work parties, preferably with 20 or more volunteers. We encourage you to sign up for a full shift, but we ask for a minimum of three hours. Teams can consist of coworkers, community or church group members, or neighbors. All are welcome!

Hello! The Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness is seeking volunteers to sort school supplies, stuff backpacks, help set up and stage operations, and help facilitate backup pickup!

Every year through Project Cool, Coalition members and volunteers make sure that more than 1,800 unhoused students start the school year off right with the supplies they need. This year Project Cool 2026 will serve 1,844 pre-k through 12th grade students in King County schools with backpacks and new school supplies. 

Can Children Volunteer: Some shifts are suitable for all ages sign up (please see via sign up link), while many of the set up and distribution days are not suitable for children under 16-years-old (they must be must be able to lift/carry 15lbs). On backpack stuffing days, children are welcome to attend with 1:1 adult supervision!

Lend your gardening expertise on weekday mornings or afternoons to help spread joy to adults with disabilities at the headquarters of our nonprofit, Full Life Care.

Rally Club Seattle is recruiting mentors for its “lunch bunch” group mentor community for the 2026/27 school year. Programming takes place onsite at Greenlake Elementary School in  NE Seattle (2400 N 65th St,  Seattle, WA 98103)  weekly on Mondays from 12-1pm (approximately).

Rally Club focuses on community and making meaningful connections. Connectedness not only has a powerful protective effect on mental health, but also improves other youth outcomes such as academic competence, concern for others, and confidence. Caring mentors like you create a welcoming, fun, and inclusive community that youth want to be a part of. Time is spent in larger group activities as well as in small groups and in giving individualized attention. Activities are tailored to youth need and interest.

Some great reasons to join:

-Community is good for all of us, and volunteering has measurable health benefits. 

-Our group format allows for others to cover absences, so although we ask for a once a week, semester commitment, it’s realistic.

-You can join with friend! It’s not only fun, but also provides the kids with healthy examples of adult friendships.

Volunteers will support the Food Access Network (FAN) team by helping with food pick-up from our food bank partners across King County. This will involve manually unloading food from trucks and transporting it to our Makeki (Market), where they will help stock the shelves. Volunteers will also assist with breaking down boxes, managing operations during Makeki (Market) hours under the supervision of the FAN team, and helping to close Makeki at the end of each operational day. Overview: FareStart’s Food Resourcing Team partners with area food rescue nonprofits, local farms, and food businesses to pick up food donations. This product will be used in our community meals to support student training, and in other food security initiatives. It helps FareStart incorporate fresh, local, and nutritious products into those programs, diversify ingredients we wouldn’t otherwise be able to purchase, and minimize costs.

Purple Light Nights is a global awareness campaign during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

DAWN is hosting three Free Purple Light Nights Awareness Walks in October 2026. This committee will plan and run these free events:

October 1 - Puyallup Sunrise Village, sponsored by Tarragon Properties/Puyallup Sunrise Village

October 5 - Renton Downtown, starting at Legacy Square - supported by Renton Chamber of Commerce and Renton Downtown Partnership

October 8 - Kent Station, sponsored by Tarragon Properties/Kent Station.

The committee meets monthly starting with a kickoff meeting on June 17 at 4:30 at Mama Stortini's Kent Station. The group may form local subcommittees for each walk event.

Join Dirt Corps this September as we're Fallin' for Fungi and caring for Westcrest trails. We'll be learning a bit about the fungi in our forest and how they interact with their ecosystem and its health. We'll then be removing non-native weeds such as blackberry from around plants and bare ground to help the native plants there grow and thrive and to make way for new native plantings in the spring. All ages and skill levels are welcome. We hope to see you there!

At FareStart, we believe everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy, and nutritious food. For more than 30 years, we have prepared and delivered meals throughout the Greater Seattle area, providing over 19 million meals to local nonprofits, shelters, respite centers, youth and adult daycare centers, and schools.

Volunteers play an important role in supporting the daily production of approximately 2,365 meals. No kitchen experience is required — this is a great opportunity for hands-on volunteering, team building, and giving back to the community.

Because our meal programs rely heavily on volunteer support, attendance is very important. If you are unable to attend your scheduled shift, please unregister as soon as possible so another volunteer may sign up and help ensure meals are prepared for the community members who depend on them.

We’ll then remove harmful weeds from around the mature trees at this site so they can continue to thrive and support the well-being of this critical riparian ecosystem and their neighbors (all of us!). Join us to care for this special neighborhood green space!

All ages and skill levels are welcome! Please wear clothing that can get dirty, including long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. We’ll be working rain or shine, so everyone is encouraged to dress for the weather and wear layers if you can. We’ll provide the tools, gloves, snacks, hot drinks, and water.

Join Trees for Neighborhoods and Dirt Corps for our next tree care skill share and volunteer work party at Webster Pond! This work party will include a skill share about harmful weeds, their history, how they relate to the ecosystem, and how best to remove them to allow our trees and native plants to thrive. We’ll then practice these skills while caring for the trees in this special wetland ecosystem. Come learn and care for this neighborhood greenspace with us!

Join Dirt Corps this August in learning about and caring for the riparian forest of Kingfisher Natural Area. We'll be exploring the history, restoration, hydrology, and ecology of this section of Thornton Creek. Enjoy talking a walk through the denser canopy, quite and cleaner air. After this we'll be caring for the space by removing ground cover English ivy and other weeds, and performing general upkeep to keep it a nice space for people to use. We hope to see you there!

Join Dirt Corps this August for a forest bathing walk and then dive in and help us care for this section of the West Duwamish Greenbelt. We'll be going on a walk through the denser canopy areas, enjoy some quietite and clean air. We'll then care for our restoration area by applying mulch around the native plants and trees, removing weeds (looking at you, blackberry!), and performing other important landscape maintenance. We hope to see you there!

Join Trees for Neighborhoods and Dirt Corps for our next tree care skill share and volunteer work party at the special wetland ecosystem of Meadowbrook Pond! We will learn how to decide the best species and spots for adding new trees to your yard or street. Our Right Tree, Right Place lesson is leading up to the Trees for Neighborhoods' free tree giveaway and our local planting season. We’ll then remove harmful weeds from and apply mulch to the young and mature trees at this site to allow them to continue to thrive. Join us to care for this special neighborhood greenspace!

Day Out With Thomas returns to the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie, WA this July, and we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring this beloved family event to life!

A joint project with the Garden Hotline and Seed2Fork Farm

For the past four years, the Washington West African Center has proudly organized the Sounds of Africa Festival, a cultural celebration that showcases African music, fashion, food, and traditions while bringing together communities across Snohomish County.

Volunteer at Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden and support our refugee neighbors! Our 2-acre community garden provides space for refugee, immigrant and Kent resident gardeners to grow cultural foods and reconnect with the soil. Our shared spaces, such as our food forest, rain gardens, pollinator berms, and restoration areas need a lot of love and attention to stay healthy, productive, and beautiful. Volunteers help to ensure this shared site stays maintained and safe for gardeners to continue grow and nature to thrive.

We are looking for work, church, or other community organizations that have availability to bring a group of volunteers out to support with essential gardening and maintenance tasks! We are able to accommodate most events during the week with some limited capacity to schedule Saturday events. All profits from the Thrift Store come back to Jubilee REACH and right back into the community. In order to keep costs low at the store, we keep a minimal staff on board. This means that we need LOTS of helping hands. Every hour volunteered at the Thrift Store is giving funds back to the community.

Thrift Store Duties: Daily, our store receives a steady flow of donated items, and without help, these donations can add up quickly. Volunteers help us process these donations, prepare them to be priced, and put them out on the sales floor. The Disability Empowerment Center in Seattle is currently working on a project to map out King County to create a searchable database of inclusive, accessible businesses.  The database is on-line and called BluePath (Blue-Path.org).  Anyone can access it to see the accessibility of a business that is listed.

Volunteers are needed to canvas businesses on a friendly basis to ask them if they would like to be listed on the site (it is free).  Volunteers along with business owners/managers then do a quick assessment of the location.  The business will receive a BluePath verified window decal in the mail after being added to the database.

Volunteers will receive training in the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III Public Accommodations, a 2 – hour training that can take place at our downtown office, virtually via zoom, or in-person for teams of 10 or more. 

Volunteers will receive 1 entry per completed survey into the raffles at the end of the Map-A-Thon term (August 8th).  Raffle prizes currently confirmed include:

Seattle Bouldering Project (4 Day Passes with shoe rental, $149 msrp); Argosy Cruises (4 Passes for the Harbor Cruise, $196 msrp); and John’s Crazy Socks (Box of Socks, $150 msrp).

Operation Nightwatch has a six-decade track record of ecumenical ministry. Loving our most-vulnerable neighbors in the name of Christ, together. We do this through street chaplaincy, food, shelter and housing. We are a privately funded, Christian organization. There are no religious requirements for those seeking services. Annually, we have more than 65,000 encounters with folks experiencing homelessness.

One of our many services include providing 150 hot meals 365 days of the year. 

We are currently looking for groups (3-7 people) to prep, cook and serve on a monthly/semi-monthly basis

You and your team can create a menu, prepare and serve the meal. A typical “shift” is from 6 – 9:45pm. Training is provided. We have a food pantry and you are welcome to use what is available.

Providence Elder Place is an innovative program dedicated to helping older adults remain healthy and independent in the community for as long as possible. We are seeking volunteers to be companions and serve the elderly.

Spanish-Speaking Volunteer Needed: We are seeking a Spanish-speaking volunteer for an elderly participant (over the age of 55) who is alert and oriented. The participant enjoys socializing and drinking coffee. This volunteer opportunity aims to help the participant achieve their 6-month goal of getting more involved in the community, especially through outdoor activities.Flexible Schedule: Give as little as an hour a week. Weekdays, weekends, afternoons—whatever works for you and your senior companion.No Prior Experience Required: Training and education provided.Bring a Buddy: You don’t have to do this alone.
