Invest in Youth is a Seattle-based nonprofit organization that provides free after-school tutoring to local elementary students across the city.

If you're looking for a way to get involved or give back to your community, this could be your opportunity! Invest in Youth is looking for role-model tutors to work one-on-one with elementary students at local schools, including Roxhill Elementary and Sanislo Elementary (both in West Seattle) and Thurgood Marshall Elementary (Squire Park Neighborhood) in addition to Beacon Hill International.

Tutoring begins in October, runs through May and takes place once every week at each school.

Each tutor is matched with the same student for the whole school year, and the pair works together on things like playing math games, reading stories or working on homework, for one hour each week. Educational materials and activities, training and support, and heartfelt appreciation are provided at every session.

Volunteer with Invest in Youth

Invest in Youth has been providing tutoring support to students across Seattle for more than 20 years! We match each volunteer tutor with a single student for the entire school year, which fosters a truly meaningful relationship for the student and the tutor. Our program is provided free of charge to all families and schools we work with. We hope you'll join us!

HOW IT WORKS:

Volunteer tutors are paired with a 3rd, 4th or 5th grade student for a full school year.

From October through May tutors and students meet once per week for an after-school tutoring session (exact location/times can be found here). We ask volunteers to make a commitment to the whole school year.

Tutoring sessions are held at the student's school, last one hour and are supervised by a school coordinator - support and heartfelt appreciation are provided at every tutoring session.

Volunteers can expect to help students with their homework, read books together and work on math problems, all while serving the important role of a mentor.
