Volunteer: Board Member

The Board will support the work of Seattle ReCreative and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by Seattle ReCreative's, Executive Director, the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

Specific Board Member responsibilities include:

Leadership, governance and oversight Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by Seattle ReCreative for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings  Approving Seattle ReCreative’s annual budget and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities  Assisting the Executive Director and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members  Partnering with the Executive Director and other board members to ensure that board projects are completed Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments  Representing Seattle ReCreative to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization  Ensuring Seattle ReCreative’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities that we serve

Volunteer: Weekly Shifter

Schedule a weekly shift in our retail store during which you can choose from projects in to-do binder, tidy store front, adopt a chore (join rotating staff/VIP volunteer chore chart for housekeeping duties), work on an ongoing project, accept/sort donations, and assist customers. Great for volunteers with a regular schedule and a minimum of two hours per week availability.

This position works directly with the programs staff to assist Lead teachers at scheduled outreach events. We have a full calendar of events in parks, at museums, enriching partner summer camps, and all over town this summer. We need outgoing individuals to help at our tables, assisting with crafts, talking about our mission and offerings, helping staff with set up, clean up, and transportation to outreach events. Education or community outreach experience is essential, access to a car is a strong plus! We're looking for individuals that can commit to a minimum of three hours a month.

This level is for the person who has a busy schedule but wants to help when they get a free minute. You will be trained on how to process materials in various areas and use the volunteer to-do binder to complete tasks (organized by the amount of time they take) when you stop in. Projects might include materials processing (sorting/pricing donations, helping customers) or outreach class prep (poking holes in caps, cutting paper to size, unpacking/sorting used outreach go-packs. This is perfect for volunteers with 2-10 hours available per month.
