What You’ll Do

As a volunteer, you might:

Help with after-school activities, games, and creative projectsSupport homework time and learning activitiesWelcome families and help create a warm, inclusive environmentAssist staff during family events, workshops, and celebrationsBe a positive role model, cheerleader, and friendly faceOccasionally help organize supplies, snacks, or activity spaces

No two days are exactly the same — expect laughter, movement, creativity, and meaningful connections.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help support this special event honoring freedom, resilience, and Black history. Volunteers will assist with event setup, guest welcome, activity support, food service, children’s activities, and cleanup throughout the celebration.

This is a great opportunity to connect with the community, support an important cultural event, and make a meaningful impact alongside fellow volunteers. Whether you can help for a few hours or the entire event, your time and energy are greatly appreciated.

Volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome. Come celebrate, serve, and help create a joyful and welcoming experience for all attendees.

Every day, Neighborhood House builds community and increases access to housing, health, education, and economic opportunities for low-income, immigrants and refugees across Seattle and King County. Since 1906, Neighborhood House has advanced our mission to partner with individuals and families to build community and increase access to housing, health, education, and economic opportunity. At Neighborhood House, we have a deep commitment to valuing our employees’, volunteers’, and clients’ diverse experiences and backgrounds, which guide our work for a more equitable future.


Neighborhood House’s Youth Engagement Program offers academic assistance, engagement through project based learning and social emotional learning, as well as other supports to youth and their families. We are seeking volunteers to engage with youth in grades K-12 to teach a new skill or activity. Some examples include: If you are passionate about fitness you could teach a series of at-home workouts! If you are a crafter and want to share out how to crochet, we can have a class on that! Professional photographers that can teach youth how to take expert photos with the phone cameras! The possibilities are endless in this remote setting. If reasonable, supplies can be distributed to youth to make sessions interactive.
