Tutors offer individualized support to adult learners working to get their US citizenship at our center in Lake City and online. They develop lesson plans focused on individual students' needs at all skill levels and the students’ own goals, promoting students' self-sufficiency and working with them towards greater independence. Instruction focuses on ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) basic skills and Citizenship content- US history and civics, and USCIS naturalization interview skills.

Bilingualism and/or experience working with adult immigrants and/or refugees is a plus. Training and support will be provided.

Volunteer: Interpret for Citizenship-seeking Adults

Literacy Source is an adult education non-profit located in the Lake City neighborhood of North Seattle. We work with a diverse population of English language learners who together speak over 40 languages. Literacy Source offers classes in English, GED, Adult Foundational Skills, and citizenship as well as legal services for people applying for US citizenship.

Volunteer interpreters will work with our Citizenship Program Manager to help students prepare applications, obtain documents, and interpret at US Citizenship and Immigration Services appointments.
