Volunteer: Development Committee Member supporting Diverse Small Business OwnershipBusiness Impact NW grows businesses that create jobs in underserved communities, through free technical assistance and mission-based lending to a targeted audience of Women-, Veteran-, Persons of Color-, Immigrants and Refugees-, and LGBT- small business owners and entrepreneurs in Washington and Northern Oregon. Based in Seattle since 1997, we are looking for 2-3 members to be part of our inaugural development committee. We have a mission-driven professional board and a Director of Development & Communications that this committee will support. The role of the Committee is to support the organization and the Development Department in the annual fundraising plan (including feedback during its annual review, revision, and execution). Top Development Needs Committee Will Help to Address Develop an expectation for financial contributions (give or get) from all members of the Board, and provide leadership by making gifts Demonstrate leadership in the referral or solicitation of gift/sponsorship/foundation contacts, including: Review current grant and sponsorship pipeline for additional unexplored opportunities Support the research and outreach of new prospects Assign & Support Board in fundraising tasks (in consultation with the Board president), including but not limited to: Referral or solicitation of sponsorships and foundation grant invitations Event attendance and/or promotion and invitations to others Thanking donors and sponsors Arrange/locate opportunity for Board training in fundraising and development Support Governance Committee in helping board assess skills and needs, as well as tracking annual board commitmentsCommittee Composition and Terms Minimum of three members The Director of Development is assigned to serve on the committee One Board member will be the board liaison and may or may not be the committee chair Committee Chair will lead the committee, directly supporting the work of the Director of Development Terms will be one year, with opportunity to serve additional terms Committee will meet quarterly, with the option of additional conference calls or emails if required around timely event or Board meeting support Time commitment: 1-3 hours per month, with each member attending and participating in quarterly meetings.Please click the "respond" button if interested in this opportunity.
