We will be honoring the multicultural coalition that came together during Dr. King’s Poor People’s campaign, through a collective food project. Dr. King’s movement to rethink and redesign critical life-giving systems, ultimately leading to economic comfort and a decent life with cultural humility and respect, is the center of our design to address food apartheid, a key system in economic injustice.
After a short education piece on what food apartheid is, and how Dr. King used the Poor People’s Campaign to reimagine and rethink economic justice, volunteers will have the opportunity to prepare meals or assemble care packages and share them with those in need.
