The Polack Food Bank On Capitol Hill operates a home-delivery program, providing healthy food and toiletries once a month to clients unable to come to the Food Bank.
Volunteers will prepare, load and deliver needed items to client homes on a designated route. A personal vehicle is required for this position.
This is an opportunity with some flexibility, and it's also a great opportunity for families!
Shifts:
- Monday to Friday, except during Food Bank's regular open hours for clients, which are:
- Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – noon
- Thursdays, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
- Fridays, 10:00 a.m. – noon.
- Second and fourth Sundays of each month.
Responsibilities:
- Pick up deliveries in the Polack Food Bank at the Capitol Hill Campus.
- Give the client or caseworker at least two days’ notice before delivering.
- Deliver groceries at your convenience, except during Jewish holidays.
- Complete necessary paperwork for each pickup.
- Follow contractual agreement as outlined in “Procedure for Home Delivery Food Bank.”
Requirements:
- Age 18 or older, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Current Washington State driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Ability to set and politely convey appropriate boundaries.
- Work cooperatively with JFS staff and volunteers.
- Culturally sensitive, respectful to clients and the mission of JFS.
- Successful completion of application process, including background and reference checks.
