Day of Caring kicks off at 9am! Please arrive at the Karlstrom apartments early or by public transportation because parking is very limited. Once your group has arrived, Johnny Johnson will provide your group with a brief orientation on the work that the Compass Housing Alliance does, and will give your team the project overviews.
Let’s put on a new coat of paint! The hallways of floors 2-5 would all greatly benefit from painting and new paint will considerably brighten things up. All painting materials will be provided, but please wear clothes that you are okay with getting dirty! Please note that some painting will be need to be done from a ladder.
We encourage you not to bring purses, wallets, cameras, large amounts of money and other valuables when you come to volunteer. A limited amount of small personal items can be placed in a locked office. Compass Housing Alliance is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
The Karlstrom Apartments is a low income housing program providing housing for 23 low-income single men and women. Some are disabled, most receive some kind of public assistance. The apartment building is located in Pioneer Square right next to the Compass Housing Alliance headquarters.
