DESC provides emergency shelter, mental health care, addiction treatment and supportive housing for nearly 9,000 men and women each year. The Union Hotel opened in 1994 and is DESC's first supportive housing project-- our first effort to develop lasting solutions to homelessness. The Union provides safe, affordable housing for 52 disabled men and women. In total, DESC now offers housing for over 1,200 formerly homeless individuals, and our model of supportive housing has been recognized nationally by both government and private organizations.
