Lambert House has partnered with Renegade Crafts for their Seattle Winter Craft Fair to benefit Lambert House's life-saving work with LGBTQ youth. There are two fundraising activities that Lambert House is seeking volunteers to support:
Lambert House will have a booth at the event selling handmade glass ornaments, figures, flowers, and vases, as well as sharing information about programs and services for LGBTQ youth to parents, donors, prospective volunteers, and other interested parties. We are seeking two volunteers per shift to assist at the booth to handle merchandise sales via cash and credit card transactions.
Lambert House and Renegade Crafts have also teamed up with Happy Camper Cocktail Company to curate a bar menu, mix, and serve drinks to patrons. Lambert House is seeking volunteers to sell drink tickets at the bar (volunteers will be in front of the bar, not behind) handling all sales via cash and credit card. Under Washington State law, volunteers are not allowed to drink before or during their shift. Volunteers that want to patron the event and the bar after they end their shift may do so.
For credit card transactions we will use an Android tablet with a Square card reader application (very simple and easy to use).
These volunteer roles require:
- Engaging with the public in a friendly manner
- Standing and/or sitting for several hours
- Holding and using a tablet with the Square reader app and magnet strip reader to process transactions
- Handling cash including accepting cash, making change, counting, documenting and securing
- Being on time (or early) to your assigned shift and staying for the whole shift duration
The event is Saturday, December 15th & Sunday, December 16th at Hanger 30 in Magnuson Park (6310 NE 74th St, Seattle, WA 98115). Shifts are 10:45am-2:15pm, and 1:45pm-5:15pm each day.
Training and support provided.
