Join our Friday volunteer opportunity leading up to the MLK Day of Service. Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands is Seattle's largest urban farm, featuring learning gardens, vegetable production fields, an orchard, greenhouses, and wetlands.
Volunteers will help with various projects, including mulching, weeding, planting and transplanting in the orchard, moving and organizing equipment and supplies in the greenhouses, and restoring the wetlands.
Dress for the weather, including rain and sun protection, wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty, and bring a water bottle to refill and any snacks that you might need while on site.
Work typically runs from 10am-noon.
There is an optional lunch with our community partners, the East African Elders, who work on the farm and come together for lunch every Friday, noon-1pm. Lunch is typically a vegan or vegetarian Ethiopian meal. A $6/person donation is requested to cover lunch expenses and can be paid by cash or check that day, or by credit card in advance. If you would like to join in the lunch on Friday, please RSVP by Monday, 1/13/20 by emailing volunteer@tilthalliance.org with the number of people in your group.
