Description

Workshop Monitors ensure presenters and participants have a positive experience - and are assigned in small groups (2-3 people) to specific workshops.

Volunteers will gather for an orientation to pick up their supplies, go over their roles and get their workshop assignments.  Workshop descriptions will be posted at www.seattlemlkcoalition.org- arrive early to get assigned to your favorite one.

Volunteer pairs/triads will:

  • Make sure the room is unlocked and a sign with the workshop title is posted at doors.
  • Connect with the workshop presenters at the room location (presenters arrive 30 minutes before the workshops), and help arrange the room how the presenters want it
  • Ensure presenters have water and help with any other needs.
  • Welcome workshop participants and see to any special needs participants may have (such as clearing a path for a wheelchair or working with hard-of-hearing technology).
  • Circulate a sign-in sheet and an evaluation and turn both in at the end of the workshop.
  • Help return the room to its initial configuration, picking up any materials left behind.

We encourage workshop monitor teams to post photos and workshop information on social media during sessions #MLKSeattle. After the session, we ask one of you to capture key brief takeaways from your session and post to Facebook or send it to us via email.

Once your volunteer shift is done, you are welcome to join the rally in the gym, the march to downtown, and meal downtown.

Please join our virtual youth event (1/15, 2-4pm) and virtual workshops the week before. Info on activities is updated regularly at  www.seattlemlkcoalition.org  #MLKSeattle

Following CDC guidance, vaccination and testing policies are not required but highly encouraged for volunteers joining us on MLK Day. To ensure the safety of everyone at our events, we still encourage healthy practices such as staying home when sick, washing hands regularly, and listening to healthcare experts as new information becomes available.
