This is the Student Conservation Association's first event of the season! This kicks of our series of work parties at Maple Wood Playfield that will run once a month from October to May. The restoration sites at Maple Wood were transformed this summer by the hard work of our youth crews. Now, we need to get ready for planting season! For this event, we will focus on prepping the site for Green Seattle Day, on November 3rd. We will be dispersing old compost piles from the summer and doing some weeding to make space for all the plants we're putting in the ground next month. Come out and help us build another future healthy forest at Maple Wood Playfield!
Come dressed for the weather (rain or shine) in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes (rubber boots, hiking/work boots, tennis shoes), long sleeves, long pants, warm layers and rain jacket. We'll have tools and gloves for you to use, as well as coffee, water, and a mid-morning snack. Help reduce waste by bringing your own refillable coffee mug/water bottle if you have one.
Meet at Maple Wood Playfield, 4801 Corson Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108 . You will see registration and hospitality tables near the parking lot.
