Description

Path From Poverty is hosting Harambee, our annual fundraising gala, on October 6, 2018. Harambee provides an opportunity to highlight the transformational work of the women and children we have partnered with over the past year, reach new audiences, and connect with loyal donors.

Harambee is Swahili for “pulling together”. As you may know, it takes many volunteers to successfully host a fundraising event. Let's pull together.

Path From Poverty is a Seattle-based non-profit organization that has been working with groups of women in rural communities in Eastern Kenya since 2000.  The lack of water in this area is a constant threat to the livelihoods of these women and their families. To collect all the water they need for drinking, washing, cooking, and cleaning – women walk miles, carry heavy containers, pay fees, and put themselves in harm’s way. The task is all consuming, taking many hours, every day. At Path From Poverty, we believe that clean water is just the first step, and that given the proper tools, education, and support, every woman has the potential to thrive.

Path From Poverty works in partnership with women in over 43 women’s groups providing income generation skills, group accountability, and a culture of savings in the lives of women’s group members. This has led to clean water in individual homes using rainwater catchment tanks, solar panel projects, children’s education, drip irrigation projects, and so much more. To date, Path From Poverty has brought clean water to over 20,000 Kenyans. With your help, we are working to bring hope and opportunity to more women and their families in 2018.
