Come join DIRT Corps for our Kids Volunteer Day at Westcrest Park. We’ll be combining playing in the dirt with education by teaching kids the difference between weeds and native plants, and showing them how to pull weeds. We’ll be talking about the importance of forest restoration and showing them some of the many amazing plants to be found in our native forests. There will be lots of time for kids to ask questions, and get their hands dirty. This is a great event for any kids that are starting to become interested in gardening and the great outdoors!
This volunteer education day is part of a larger partnership effort between DIRT Corps and Green Seattle Partnership to restore the southwest portion of Westcrest Park to a native forest ecosystem by removing weeds and planting more native plants. If you would like to continue to be involved in this effort, DIRT Corps hosts regular volunteer work parties on the first Saturday of the month, and will be doing a huge planting day on November 4th.
MEET: Meet at southeast side of the south parking lot, next to the horse barn.
BRING: Water and lunch. DIRT Corps will provide coffee light refreshments.
