Teen Link is currently looking for adult volunteers (21+) to supervise the teen link young people phone workers. Working jointly with a Team of four teen link staff members, all of who are active in conducting trainings in school throughout King County. The goal is to engage teens in an open and honest discussion about the stresses and pressures that youth might face. In addition, Teen Link helps youth to identify coping mechanisms and warning signs, and instructs youth on how to intervene on behalf of a friend, if suicide ideation is expressed. This position works with a team of five Teen Link staff members, all of whom are active in conducting trainings in schools throughout King County. Professional training is provided. The WA Warm Line offers phone based peer support to people living with a mental illness using the principles of recovery to enhance the well-being of callers. Warm Line calls are answered by people who have lived experience with mental health challenges and want to share their experience to empower others. The Warm Line volunteers receive professional training, mentorship, and on-going volunteer support services. 

Join local Forest Steward Heidi Watters for a fun work party removing noxious weeds and learning about healthy ecosystems. All tools and training provided.

Translators for Bilingual Salmon Salmon Saturday Family Event.

Are you passionate about the Environment and local wildlife? Want to make a difference? Do you speak Spanish and English? If you said yes, this is for you!

We are seeking 6-8 volunteers to assist at various educational tables with family activities, translating between Spanish and English. Tables include information on Salmon, art activities, sharing resources, welcoming folks to the event, and Salmon viewing on the river. This event is all about learning about Salmon, the river, and what we can do to protect these amazing creatures.

Shifts are at least two hours long, but if you can do the whole event, we would love it!Volunteer hours count for community service or school. You must be 15 or older to volunteer.

Training on the materials will take place before the event, and a salmon or environmental expert will staff each station.

The Duwamish River ecosystem is a vital yet heavily impacted watershed in the Seattle area, supporting a diverse array of wildlife, including salmon, otters, and eagles. Naturalist Fletcher Levy will lead the group on a stroll and discuss the Green-Duwamish Salmon. Fletcher will discuss all five species and their cultural relevance while also explaining some of the challenges we face in the region.

As a bonus, Fletcher will identify native plants and trees and share how they support the river. Everyone will go home with great ways to help salmon ecosystems from your own home.

Restrooms and water bottle fill-up stations are available at the Tukwila Community Center. This event is rain or shine and ADA accessible; all ages are welcome, and the walk is paved.

Volunteer to be a roll player with the SEA TSA K9 Team!

The Transportation Security Administration regularly evaluates screening procedures in order to stay ahead of evolving threats. As one of the TSA's many layers of security, the Passenger Screening Canine Program is no exception to the rule. In order to ensure canines are always prepared for real time threats, the TSA continuously trains and tests the canines' abilities. 

In support of this training, the TSA at SeaTac Airport is in need of volunteer decoys.  Volunteers will serve as mock traveling passengers and participate in training scenarios that rese3mble an everyday traveling environment.

Must be at least 18 years old.

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the logistical and operational needs of performances, events, and the management of assets and equipment. This role ensures that all productions run smoothly by coordinating venues, transportation, and equipment maintenance. The Operations Manager plays a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency while supporting the artistic vision of Rainbow City Performing Arts.

As a Meals on Wheels volunteer, you will belong to a team committed to helping homebound seniors maintain their health and independence with nutritious food, personal contact, and caring service.

Volunteer Coordinator:As the Volunteer Coordinator, the main responsibilities are to make sure that homebound elders receive the meals they order, that the necessary volunteers are on hand to pack and deliver the meals, that volunteers are trained and supported, and various office tasks that keep Meals on Wheels humming along on schedule.

In a pinch, the Coordinator can fill in for any member of the Meals on Wheels team, including delivering meals to clients. Training for this position is provided. The time commitment is 5-8 hours weekly. Availability on Thursdays from 8:30am-noon is needed, in addition availability for a few hours on an occasional Tuesday is desired.

Qualities sought in Meals on Wheels volunteers: Commitment to the well-being of elders, good communication skills, reliability, flexibility, attention to detail, resourcefulness, and good cheer.

Requirements: Complete an application. Consent to a background check. Be able to lift 15lbs. Be at least 24 years of age or better. Have a Washington State driver’s license and auto insurance. This is an ongoing, weekly commitment.

The Disability Empowerment Center in Seattle is currently working on a project to map out King County to create a searchable database of inclusive, accessible businesses.  The database is on-line and called BluePath (Blue-Path.org).  Anyone can access it to see the accessibility of a business that is listed.

Volunteers are needed to canvas businesses on a friendly basis to ask them if they would like to be listed on the site (it is free).  Volunteers along with business owners/managers then do a quick assessment of the location.  The business will receive a BluePath verified window decal in the mail after being added to the database.

Volunteers will receive training in the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III Public Accommodations, a 2 – hour training that can take place at our downtown office, virtually via zoom, or in-person for teams of 10 or more. 

Volunteers will receive 1 entry per completed survey into the raffles at the end of the Map-A-Thon term (August 8th).  Raffle prizes currently confirmed include:

Seattle Bouldering Project (4 Day Passes with shoe rental, $149 msrp); Argosy Cruises (4 Passes for the Harbor Cruise, $196 msrp); and John’s Crazy Socks (Box of Socks, $150 msrp).

Riverton Park is a beautiful community park with picnic tables, a playground, Gully Gardens P-Patch, and a walking loop with a natural border that offers something for everyone.

The natural plant board of the park has largely established mature trees that support wildlife, reduce pollutants in the air, and help to bring shade on hot days. Unfortunately, these trees are in danger due to English ivy, which grows aggressively and chokes out native plants and trees.

The good news is YOU ARE HERE to help; as a community, we can save these trees and install a healthy native forest; plus, it is a ton of fun!

All tools, materials, and training will be provided at the start of the work party.

Work parties are taking place next to the Gully Gardens P-Patch on the lower section of the park. You will see a 6ft toolbox (JOBOX) meet there.

Parking lot for Riverton park is located on 131st at 4124 S 131st St, Tukwila WA, 98168.

Join REI and local Steward Chris for a morning of Riverside Restoration off the Green River Trail. Himalayan Blackberry and Bindweed aggressively take over and choke out young native trees and understory plants. Volunteers are removing the invasive plants and making room for native trees and shrubs.

What to Bring

Dress for the weather, wear closed-toed shoes, and cover your legs and arms; blackberry is very scratchy. Bring a full water bottle and tough gardening gloves if you have them.

We will meet in the park and walk to the site; the site is just south of the park under the bridge.

We believe everyone is entitled to fresh, healthy and nutritious food.  We have over 30 years of history and expertise in preparing and delivering meals across the Greater Seattle area, producing 19 million meals for local nonprofits, shelters, respite centers, youth and adult daycare centers and schools.  Volunteers help with a variety of tasks to help supplement the large amount of work that goes in to creating around 2,365 meals each day.  A great opportunity for hands-on volunteer work and team building.  Food is provided!

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will help prepare meals by completing basic preparation tasks.  FareStart staff will assign tasks based on individual skill and comfort level.

Location: Galaxy Building, 635 Elliott Ave W, Seattle, WA 98119

Parking: Is available in Galaxy Building Garage ($16), a lot across the street ($14), or on the street for free. Bus routes 24 and 30 stop along street.

Dates/Times: Saturdays and Sundays 10:00a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Contact:  When you arrive please call the kitchen at 206-588-4020 to gain entrance to building.

Attire: Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy, closed-toed, non-slip/rubber soled shoes and full-length pants. We also advise volunteers to wear clothes and shoes which can get dirty, we will provide aprons. Long hair must be tied back, and all volunteers must wear a hat or a hairnet (hairnet provided). Please refrain from wearing nail polish.

Group Size: Individuals or groups of up to 7 people.

NEST is seeking volunteers around NE Seattle interested in supporting their elder neighbors through driving to and from doctor's appointments, classes, grocery stores, social activities, and more. Transportation is our most requested service, with volunteers providing over 50 rides each month. 

You can choose to sign up as often or as little as you like, using our convenient online system. Volunteers are required to submit an online application and complete a simple volunteer orientation before volunteering. Volunteer drivers also need to have current Driver's License, Vehicle Registration, and proof of auto insurance documents, and agree to have background and driving record checks.

Fifty percent of children in our state enter kindergarten unprepared. Low-income and immigrant children who enter kindergarten fare even worse at 74% below expected language, communication and literacy assessments. Denise Louie Education Center provides multicultural early learning and family support services to help prepare Seattle kids and families for kindergarten and success in school and life.

The classroom volunteer will help support the classroom and give the children a safe and engaging environment for them to learn in.  This position will allow you to gain experience working with children, practice teaching skills, and learn different teaching styles.  Tasks may include, but are not limited to, reading/storytelling, administrative work, escorting children, playing games, cleaning, doing art work, and helping with meals.

For 30 years, FareStart has been providing meals to our community to offset food insecurity and relieve hunger.  Volunteers help with a variety of tasks to help supplement a large amount of work that goes into creating between 1,000 – 2,000 meals each day.  A great opportunity for hands-on volunteer work and team building. 

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will help prepare meals by completing basic preparation tasks; for example: assembling boxes for meal transportation, stamping meal bags, portioning, cleaning produce and more. FareStart staff will assign tasks based on individual skill and comfort level.

After you sign up for this opportunity a FareStart staff member will contact you and provide detailed directions and instructions.

Parking: Is available in Galaxy Building Garage ($16), a lot across the street ($14), or on the street for free. Bus routes 24 and 30 stop along the street.

Attire: Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy, closed-toed, non-slip/rubber-soled shoes and full-length pants. We also advise volunteers to wear clothes and shoes which can get dirty, we will provide aprons. Long hair must be tied back, and all volunteers must wear a hat or a hairnet (hairnet provided). Please refrain from wearing nail polish.

The Red Cross Club Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Red Cross and Club student leadership. They help to create and maintain an environment where youth (high school & college aged students) feel empowered to lead and mobilize peers in community service projects addressing local and global issues. Club Coordinators support school year start up, help document activities and hours, and attend monthly Club meetings and events throughout the school year, virtually! Events may include hosting blood drives, personal care item drives for veterans, fundraising, and disaster preparedness campaigns. This can be served as an all-virtual opportunity! Volunteers will support the Food Access Network (FAN) team by helping with food pick-up from our food bank partners across King County. This will involve manually unloading food from trucks and transporting it to our Makeki (Market), where they will help stock the shelves. We have received more couches, armchairs, and loveseats in need of reupholstering. As our workspace and storage space are one in the same, the sooner these items are redone and donated to families who need them, the sooner we can bring in more.

We are looking for volunteers with sewing skills to help with this process. We provide all tools and materials needed, including our new industrial sewing machine and pneumatic staple guns! We just need you to bring your skills and knowledge to aid our cause.

Repair Days run from 10 am to 4 pm but volunteers are welcome to join for whatever amount of time suits their schedule. Please visit the calendar on our website to view available days this month. We have light snacks and refreshments available for volunteers and also have a water cooler if you would like to bring a refillable bottle.

Furniture Repair Bank is a nonprofit effort that rescues worn, torn, and broken furniture from ending up in the landfill, restores its value, and provides it to people in need. Join our community of empathic, creative, and handy individuals!

We are looking to build a roster of strong individuals who can assist with the delivery of refinished furniture pieces. Dates will vary each month. Delivery days begin around 9 a.m. at our warehouse in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood. After loading the truck, the team will deliver furniture to approximately four or five families then sometimes pick up donated furniture on the way back, ending the day around 5 p.m. Lunch will be provided as well.

If you have furniture moving experience that's great! If not, that's okay, as long as you are strong and capable and can be careful with the furniture items that our teams of volunteers have restored.

If you are interested in joining our delivery team, please submit your information and we will add you to our roster. When delivery dates are determined, we will send an email out requesting two or three people to assist for each event.

The Fundraising & Marketing Committee supports creative and strategic fundraising and marketing activities under the guidance of development staff.

This includes attending monthly meetings, contributing to the development and execution of fundraising and marketing events and campaigns, communicating fundraising priorities to the rest of the BoD and encouraging individual fundraising efforts. You will have the opportunity to gain greater insight into how to support the financial needs of executing quality programming.

Committee Meetings

-Regularly attend and actively participate in monthly committee meetings

-Review agenda and Fundraising Calendar prior to meetings 

-Assist in planning, reviewing and guiding marketing, fundraising, sponsorship,  campaigns and events, monthly giving, major donor and swag sales strategies.

-Assist in strategic donor stewardship and engagement efforts with staff

-Assist in soliciting contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals for annual in-kind (good/services) or cash contributions.

-Assist in spreading awareness and cultivating new funding opportunities

Time commitment

We ask that Fundraising & Marketing Committee Members commit to at least a one-year term and attend 8 out of 11 monthly meetings (no meeting in December) AND 1-2 hours per month of committee specific tasks. This will provide an overall picture of how our fundraising strategy is executed during any given year.

HIP serves freshly prepared, healthy lunches to seniors as part of Lake City Senior Days three days a week. We are looking for a check-in volunteer who'll greet program participants, check them in (either using a scanner or on paper), and make them feel welcome in that space.

This role will also involve helping seniors check in for a second meal, distributing monthly menus and signup forms, collecting donations, and generally being a point of contact for program participants. We have openings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 12 to 1:45 pm, but anyone who could help on any day would be helpful.

Come and have fun attending and helping at our monthly celebrations! We call them SEC Celebration events and they are at a different location every month and always on the weekends. These celebrations are designed to respond to the common challenge of isolation and inclusion that so many in the disability community can experience.

Your responsibilities can range from being a table host to such things as manning the check-in table, assist in serving, games, crafts, and greeting to name just a few. 

No experience necessary. Just come with lots of love in your heart and the desire to make others feel welcome and included.

Bridge Disability Ministries is looking for volunteers to assist us in the pick-up and delivery of donated medical equipment. 

Deliveries and pick-ups are made with the Bridge cargo vans and a valid Washington Driver's License is required as well as a driver's record check. All delivery and pick ups are within King County.

Won't you consider helping us keep these used medical equipment items out of our garbage dumps and get them instead into the hands of those who can benefit from them?

Bridge Disability Ministries is looking to place volunteers in our new equipment office location in Redmond!

The Equipment Repair Volunteer will assist with the cleaning and repair of donated durable medical equipment. This needs to be a person who is handy with tools and has mechanical repair knowledge and experience.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a weekly schedule of about 2 hours for one to two days a week. And we are hoping that person is you!  

As a food organization, we go through many rags and aprons and we'd love your help with laundry! We provide a document with instructions on how to thoroughly clean rags and aprons.

The laundry would be picked up from the HIP kitchen (3841 NE 123rd ST, Seattle, Washington) on Friday afternoons after 12:30 pm. Drop-off can be anytime on Monday, although it’s slightly easier after meal prep is finished at 11:30 am onwards.

This is a weekend volunteer opportunity.

There truly is no better time to volunteer. Our program needs help packing and delivering 5000 bags of food to students struggling with food and housing insecurity in our community.
