Join us as we celebrate our continued partnership with El Centro de la Raza, a community organization rooted in the Latino community! 

Come craft flowers and organize auction items on Saturday, September 26th, for their annual Building the Beloved Community Gala. Be part of an exciting event that raises funds for 43 programs and services that benefit more than 20,000 individuals and families across our region.   

This event will take place at the Seattle Convention Center on the 5th floor. Together, our small efforts can create a large impact, especially at a time when rising costs and growing attacks against Latino and Hispanic communities are making this work more important than ever.  

Tasks will include decorating the dining room, helping set up the silent auction, setting up the registration tables, and helping with the photo booth.     

This volunteer project will help serve the needs of our community. If you are no longer able to make it, please cancel at least 48 hours in advance. Don't worry, your project leader will send you reminders ahead of the volunteer opportunity.

Dance the Night for Rights brings our community together on the dance floor at The Collective to support Global Rights Advocacy (GRA) and our continuous defense of freedom, dignity, and human rights. We are celebrating a year of dedicated effort under challenging circumstances—and we want you with us!

Set-Up Volunteer:

Volunteers to help get camp set up on the day before camp begins. Tasks include moving bins of camp supplies into our site, setting up areas like the camp kitchen or assembly hall, decorating with posters, organizing swag bags, and more! Musical instruments will need to be arranged in classrooms according to diagrams; no musical experience required for this task! In addition to these jobs, we also need specific Drum Set-Up volunteers for the afternoon who know their way around a kit.

Help students strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and develop a positive attitude toward learning. This is a rewarding opportunity to support local youth through academic guidance, encouragement, and mentorship.

Starspun Lit is seeking passionate individuals to join our team of Seattle volunteers! As a volunteer, individuals will read stories to kids across the greater Seattle area and lead workshop activities following the session. We welcome volunteers ages 14+. Experience working with kids is preferred but not required.

Volunteers have the opportunity to create curriculum, as well, and advance to leadership roles in organizing new read-aloud locations. This is a great opportunity for high school and college students! Days and hours are flexible but are generally biweekly.

Neighborhood House is seeking enthusiastic and dependable volunteers to support our annual health and back to school fair.

Volunteers will help create a welcoming experience for families by assisting with event setup and cleanup, greeting attendees, distributing school supplies, helping with activity stations, providing directions, and supporting event staff as needed.

Pioneer Park

Join us for a Forest Steward led work party in Pioneer Park SE. For this work party volunteers will be removing ivy that is blanketing the forest floor. Removing ivy helps to increase the biodiversity of park by making room for native plants to sprout up. If left unchecked, ivy will grow over our native plants and eventually pull them to the ground. Your help in removing ivy will play a pivotal role in creating a healthier future for the park!

No experience necessary, all ages welcome. Please note: we require participants aged 14 and under to volunteer with a parent or guardian at a ratio of 1 adult to 3 kids.

When: Multiple- Saturday, August 29th, 10am-12pm

Where: Pioneer Park SE, a map will be provided for directions to the specific work site.

What to bring: Dress for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (think: long pants, boots or sneakers). Bring water. Small snacks, gloves, and tools will be provided.

Make a difference in our housing community by delivering fresh groceries to our community food pantry! This volunteer position has a direct impact on our resident's access to fresh groceries by picking up food donations in Kenmore and delivering them to our housing in the Central District. This position is well-suited for friends or partners who would like to volunteer together to make a difference in the greater Seattle area.

By volunteering with PHC you will be directly involved in building community and connections among residents. Many of our residents are negatively impacted by chronic mental health conditions, trauma, and homelessness. If you are passionate about access to food, mental health, community, and housing, this volunteer opportunity is for you!

Individuals in this position will be lifting boxes up to 40lbs, walking short distances while carrying 40lbs, driving their personal vehicle, and cleaning out the community pantry.

Commitment: One shift a month on Friday evenings for 2-4 hours per shift. Friday shifts are flexible, and Mileage reimbursement is available. 

Volunteers must have their own vehicle.

How This Helps Our Community:  

We welcome everyone who wants to help and particularly encourage members of the Black community and people of color to volunteer with us. Almost all of YTP's students are people of color and roughly 85% come from immigrant families and many of our students are of East African descent. We believe African-American tutors will support them in navigating American culture, as tutoring is not only about academics but relationship building and socio-emotional support. We need your help to strengthen our diverse community and raise our collective efforts to improve our students' education across the city.

We have our weekly Food Bank Monday's from 10-1pm and we need volunteers around 8:30 to help setup, pass out food and work with our community members. 

We need a cook to come in a few days a week to prepare and serve food to about 50 people in our Hygiene Center. Our Hygiene Coordinator would be available to assist/explain the process. The volunteer can come in a create their own dishes with the food from the pantry. You would also communicate with the Food Services Manager to help you prepare the food for your arrival. 

The Food Services Manager needs a few volunteers each Thursday to help build Home Delivery boxes to her 8 clients that cannot make it to the weekly Food Bank. She also has grocery rescue and needs help organizing and putting food away in the pantry to prepare for Monday.

Join Trees for Neighborhoods, Seattle City Light, and Dirt Corps for our next tree care skill share and volunteer work party at the Green Line in Rainier Beach! We will learn how to mulch trees to protect them during the summer by increasing water retention and cooling down the soil around the tree roots. We will also be highlighting some of the amazing native pollinators that ensure our trees bear fruit and have seeds for the summer! Creating pollinator habitat, especially for ground-nesting bees is crucial for happy and healthy trees. Join us to care for this special neighborhood greenspace! 

All ages and skill levels are welcome! Please wear clothing that can get dirty, including long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. We’ll be working rain or shine, so everyone is encouraged to dress for the weather and wear layers if you can. We’ll provide the tools, gloves, snacks, hot drinks, and water.

Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, located in Redmond, WA, is a community where horses transform the bodies, minds, and spirits of people with disabilities. For 50 years, we have helped individuals from the greater Seattle area build skills for independence, improve daily functioning, and overcome physical, emotional, and cognitive health challenges. We accomplish this by providing equine-assisted services for people with disabilities. Little Bit serves 575 children and adults with disabilities annually, representing all ages and nearly 100 different diagnoses, through Therapy (physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy), Adaptive Riding, mental health, and Horsemanship programming. Equine-assisted services can be empowering for people with disabilities, helping them overcome barriers to reaching personal goals and living healthier, happier lives with the greatest independence possible, while promoting greater inclusion in the community. Little Bit’s Annual Reins of Life Gala Auction is our largest fundraising event of the year. Funds raised at the event support Little Bit programs throughout the year and have an impact on the amount that participants pay for services.

Time Commitment

Help us kick off the growing season in March and April, or support us during the highest need months of July through September. We’ve already set aside most Tuesdays from 9am to 2pm during the growing season for large-group work parties, preferably with 20 or more volunteers. We encourage you to sign up for a full shift, but we ask for a minimum of three hours. Teams can consist of coworkers, community or church group members, or neighbors. All are welcome!

This is a critical period when refugees need assistance learning the basics of life in a new place, including things like public transportation, the banking system, public schools, managing personal healthcare, conversational English and getting involved in their community. Mentors meet with an individual or a family for two hours per week during their first three months in the U.S.

Join Dirt Corps this October as we celebrate the role of wetlands in fall bird migration and caring for our section of Thornton Creek: Kingfisher Natural Area. We'll learn about the importance of green spaces and wetlands in particular as rest stops for our beautiful migrating birds. We'll then remove non-native weeds such as morning glory from around young and mature native plants and bare ground to help the native plants there grow and thrive and to make way for new native plantings in the spring. We're looking for individuals interested in serving on one of two Board committees:

Fix-it Fairs and Repair Cafés are community gatherings bringing neighbors together to provide free repair services to the public while reducing landfill waste and passing on vital skills. These hands-on events are open to everyone and provide an empowering opportunity for individuals to learn how to repair items – like small appliances and electronics – for themselves and others. The events are held at sites around town, with the goal of making them accessible to more people in more communities.

What gets fixed? The public is invited to bring items in need of repairing or mending that might otherwise be thrown away, such as bikes, jewelry, clothing, small appliances, furniture, toys and electronics. 

What do volunteers do? Volunteers help with a variety of event-prep activities: setting up the space, placing signage, helping guests get their items checked in, getting those items to the appropriate repair station, taking photos of guests with their repaired items and more.

A volunteer is needed to deliver meals in Renton on Wednesday mornings, as needed.  Volunteers start at 10 am and are typically done with their route in 1 to 2 hours. Training is provided, and mileage is reimbursable while making deliveries.

Qualifications: Good communication and people skills, reliable, good cheer, and a commitment to the well-being of homebound elders. This is an on-going volunteer commitment.

This virtual role provides follow-up and recovery planning services for individuals and households following home fires or disasters, including referrals. Caseworkers make initial contact with the client within 48 hours of the disaster. Work with clients to get connected with resources. All training is provided.

Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.

Our DAT team is responsible for:

Providing timely in-person response to disasters and assisting those affected. Responding to disaster scenes as assigned by Team Leader within two hours. Meet the needs of those affected by disasters such as the need for shelter and food by providing Red Cross Services.

The Shelter Resident Transition Service Associate assists shelter residents and disaster victims create long term personal plans to overcome obstacles and transition into a stable housing solution. They play an important role in minimizing disaster caused displacement and aid in long term recovery.

MSC's Food Bank distributes food to individuals and families. Food distribution is ”market style” which includes loading food on tables and assisting clients with their food choices as they come through the indoor market, packing boxes with food and loading the boxes into cars for our home delivery program, sorting donated food and general organizing and cleaning.

Corral Buddies are the warm, welcoming presence that makes our shelter feel like a safe haven — for the animals and for our community. As a Corral Buddy, you'll provide comfort, enrichment, and calm companionship to animals in our care, helping them feel less stressed and more ready for their next homes. Join us in making the Mercer Island Farmers Market a success! We rely on amazing volunteers like you to keep things running smoothly. Choose from three shifts per market day and help support our local vendors and community.

We’re seeking a committed and mission‑driven volunteer to serve as the next President of Washington State NOW. This is a unique volunteer opportunity to guide statewide advocacy for women’s rights and strengthen the NOW organization in Washington.

The WA NOW President leads the organization’s mission, oversees statewide operations, and represents Washington State NOW in advocacy, coalition work, and member engagement. 

The volunteer time commitment for this role varies throughout the year but can be 5 -10 hours per week in the Winter and Spring. This is a remote friendly role and you can mostly work from home. Candidates must be (or be willing to become) a NOW member and must be a Washington Resident.

Plan usage and plantings for garden areas, and design garden activities for adult day health participants with disabilities, volunteer work parties, and more!

Pushing Boundaries, the Puget Sound’s only Paralysis Exercise Therapy Center, is seeking board members who are passionate about maximizing function, strength, and independence for people navigating paralysis and neurological movement disorders. How we serve the community

The Capitol Hill Tool Library empowers our neighborhood to build DIY skills and improve sustainability, through offering tool borrowing, workspace, and classes.

Our inventory includes over 3,000 items, ranging from ice cream makers to hedge trimmers to sewing machines to drills. Our workshop has spaces for woodworking, jewelry making, and 3D printing. And our classes cover everything from backpacking to kombucha brewing wood shop safety to tax prep.

We're an entirely volunteer staff, and everything we offer is free or pay-what-you-can so that we can serve everyone in the community.

What skills you’ll need

Absolutely none. Really!

Many of us (including the person writing this listing!) came to the tool library with no DIY, woodworking, or "maker" experience at all - just an interest in connecting with our neighborhood. It’s very easy to learn on the job.

What you’ll do

We're open six days per week, for three hours each day. You'll pick a day to come in for, where you and one or two other tool librarians will serve patrons and improve the library. This includes checking tools in and out (like a library book), organizing inventory, helping patrons plan their projects, designing outreach and signage, and repairing broken items.

During your first shift, you’ll get an orientation from an existing volunteer and we’ll help you find tasks that you enjoy.

Why you’ll be excited

Staffing the tool library is a fun, rewarding way to connect with your community. You’ll meet your neighbors and help them with projects that they’re infectiously enthusiastic about. You’ll also learn a ton through your own tasks - whether it’s by cataloging new inventory, chatting with patrons, or opening up and trying to repair items.

You’ll do all this while working as a team with other sociable, community-minded tool librarians who are excited to make Capitol Hill a better place. You'll also have a chance to meet tool librarians from other shifts at our monthly volunteer potlucks.

Position Overview: The Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Garden Docent to lead small tours in our beautiful garden. The successful candidate will be passionate about plants, knowledgeable about the garden’s history, and able to communicate this information effectively to visitors of all ages. As a Garden Docent, you will be responsible for leading groups of visitors on informative tours, answering questions, and providing a positive experience for guests.
