| Volunteer: Volunteer mentor for one of our incredible students in the Bellevue School District!Rainier Athletes' (RA) mission is to affirm our youth’s sense of purpose and belonging by intentionally connecting their core community of teachers, coaches, families, and mentors. RA is a long-term mentoring organization that begins walking alongside students and their families in 4th grade and continues through high school graduation and beyond. Each student is matched with a dedicated mentor who meets with them weekly, fully funded to participate in year round sports and activities, and supported as they explore and advocate for their unique identity.   No experience with sports, mentoring, or working with youth is required. Trainings are held throughout the year and you’ll have support from our dedicated team whenever you need it. RA students are not just athletes, but are also artists, activists, engineers, and up-and-coming philosophers. Their passions are a way that we engage in a deeper conversation with them and their supporters. So no, you don’t have to love sports! RA mentors are volunteers with diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and interests.   Volunteer mentors meet with their mentee once a week at the mentee’s school. After check-ins, mentors share a report with their mentee’s family, teachers, and coaches. RA mentors are bridge builders, strengthening relationships beyond their one-on-one connection to the student by uniting the student’s entire Core Community of supporters. We call this approach ONE Team Mentoring! Mentors typically spend 1 hour per week between meeting with the student, and communicating with their parents, teachers, etc. We ask mentors to commit for at least one full school year. Check-ins are typically held on Thursdays or Friday afternoons. The level of involvement outside of weekly check-ins is up to you. | Volunteer: Help Students Succeed in English for Work ClassesHopelink is looking for volunteer career advisers for the English for Work program! Fall quarter is already underway, so we are looking for advisers for our winter and spring quarters. The next New Adviser Onboarding meetings will be held in January and April 2026. About English for Work and the Adviser Role English for Work is a quarter-long English language program, designed for immigrants and refugees who are planning to get a job (or a better job) or enroll in college/job training in the next six months or so. In the class, students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while learning about U.S. work culture, career goal setting, resume writing, and interview preparation. Each adviser is assigned 2-3 students for the quarter. Advisers work one-on-one with their assigned students, supporting them in setting short-term and long-term career goals, resume writing, English practice, applying for jobs, and preparing for job interviews. Advisers primarily meet with students virtually, with occasional in-person opportunities at local libraries or other local public meeting spaces if student transportation allows. This is a great role for working folks because the meeting schedules can be flexible. It’s also great for recently retired folks who are looking for ways to give back to the community and share their industry expertise! We provide training and support to volunteers throughout the quarter. Adviser Requirements:Must be enthusiastic about connecting with students virtually and comfortable using technology (Zoom is the most common mode for advising meetings, accessible to those with busy schedules and transportation barriers). Have at least 3 years of U.S. work experience with some knowledge about the job market and the job search process. Excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully with immigrants and refugees who are developing their English language skills. Commitment to anti-racism, being equitable and inclusive to all, and to practicing cultural humility. Available to meet with their advisees at least 3-6 times during the quarter. Able to commit to advising for at least two quarters (about six months). Organization: Hopelink Hopelink is looking for volunteer career advisers for the English for Work program! In order to keep costs low at the store, we keep a minimal staff on board. This means that we need LOTS of helping hands. Every hour volunteered at the Thrift Store is giving funds back to the community. Volunteers help us process these donations, prepare them to be priced, and put them out on the sales floor. | Volunteer: Staff the Capitol Hill Tool LibraryJoin our crew to learn new skills, connect with your community, and have lots of fun. No prior experience required! How we serve the community The Capitol Hill Tool Library empowers our neighborhood to build DIY skills and improve sustainability, through offering tool borrowing, workspace, and classes. Our inventory includes over 3,000 items, ranging from ice cream makers to hedge trimmers to sewing machines to drills. Our workshop has spaces for woodworking, jewelry making, and 3D printing. And our classes cover everything from backpacking to kombucha brewing wood shop safety to tax prep. We're an entirely volunteer staff, and everything we offer is free or pay-what-you-can so that we can serve everyone in the community. What skills you’ll need Absolutely none. Really! Many of us (including the person writing this listing!) came to the tool library with no DIY, woodworking, or "maker" experience at all - just an interest in connecting with our neighborhood. It’s very easy to learn on the job. What you’ll do We're open six days per week, for three hours each day. You'll pick a day to come in for, where you and one or two other tool librarians will serve patrons and improve the library. This includes checking tools in and out (like a library book), organizing inventory, helping patrons plan their projects, designing outreach and signage, and repairing broken items. During your first shift, you’ll get an orientation from an existing volunteer and we’ll help you find tasks that you enjoy. Why you’ll be excited Staffing the tool library is a fun, rewarding way to connect with your community. You’ll meet your neighbors and help them with projects that they’re infectiously enthusiastic about. You’ll also learn a ton through your own tasks - whether it’s by cataloging new inventory, chatting with patrons, or opening up and trying to repair items. You’ll do all this while working as a team with other sociable, community-minded tool librarians who are excited to make Capitol Hill a better place. You'll also have a chance to meet tool librarians from other shifts at our monthly volunteer potlucks. | Volunteer: Marra Farm Giving Garden Work Party (Group)Do you want to end hunger in your community?
Imagine a city where people have equal access to healthy and culturally appropriate food. The Community Food Education (CFE) at Solid Ground fosters community connections through gardening education, sustainable food production, environmental stewardship, and raising awareness about good nutrition and food justice. We also fight hunger by providing low-income individuals with seeds and materials, and supporting backyard gardeners in donating fruits and vegetables grown in King County. If you share our vision, join us at Marra Farm Giving Garden in Seattle's South Park neighborhood! A Giving Garden Work Party offers an idyllic outdoor opportunity to bond with your coworkers. Dig into soil, plant, weed, and harvest much-needed fresh food for our neighbors as you connect with your team. With the rising cost of food, our local communities rely on fresh produce from Marra Farm more than ever. Help us grow healthy and culturally appropriate food for our neighbors in need! Time Commitment Help us kick off the growing season in March and April, or support us during the highest need months of July through September. We’ve already set aside most Tuesdays from 9am to 2pm during the growing season for large-group work parties, preferably with 20 or more volunteers. We encourage you to sign up for a full shift, but we ask for a minimum of three hours. Teams can consist of coworkers, community or church group members, or neighbors. All are welcome! To Apply Please click the Respond button below. We will get back to you within 3-5 business days with next steps. BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color), and people with the lived experience of food insecurity are strongly encouraged to volunteer.
