Volunteer: Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator: Sounds of Africa 4.0 FestivalFor the past four years, the Washington West African Center has proudly organized the Sounds of Africa Festival, a cultural celebration that showcases African music, fashion, food, and traditions while bringing together communities across Snohomish County. The 2026 edition of the festival (Sounds of Africa 4.0) will take place on August 15, 2026, at Garfield Park. As the festival continues to grow in scale and community impact, the center is seeking a Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to help secure financial support and resources for the event. Historically, the festival has been organized without formal funding, relying primarily on community volunteers, small contributions, and in-kind support. As the event expands, the organization is now looking to develop a more sustainable funding strategy to support the festival’s logistics, programming, and long-term growth. Role Overview The Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator will work closely with the leadership and executive team of the center to identify funding opportunities and develop fundraising strategies that support the successful planning and implementation of the festival. This role will focus on grant writing, sponsorship development, and community fundraising initiatives to help ensure the sustainability and continued growth of the festival. Volunteer: Volunteer mentor for one of our incredible students in the Bellevue School District!Rainier Athletes' (RA) mission is to affirm our youth’s sense of purpose and belonging by intentionally connecting their core community of teachers, coaches, families, and mentors. RA is a long-term mentoring organization that begins walking alongside students and their families in 4th grade and continues through high school graduation and beyond. Each student is matched with a dedicated mentor who meets with them weekly, fully funded to participate in year round sports and activities, and supported as they explore and advocate for their unique identity. No experience with sports, mentoring, or working with youth is required. Trainings are held throughout the year and you’ll have support from our dedicated team whenever you need it. RA students are not just athletes, but are also artists, activists, engineers, and up-and-coming philosophers. Their passions are a way that we engage in a deeper conversation with them and their supporters. So no, you don’t have to love sports! RA mentors are volunteers with diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and interests. Volunteer mentors meet with their mentee once a week at the mentee’s school. After check-ins, mentors share a report with their mentee’s family, teachers, and coaches. RA mentors are bridge builders, strengthening relationships beyond their one-on-one connection to the student by uniting the student’s entire Core Community of supporters. We call this approach ONE Team Mentoring! Mentors typically spend 1 hour per week between meeting with the student, and communicating with their parents, teachers, etc. We ask mentors to commit for at least one full school year. Check ins are typically held on Thursdays or Friday afternoons. The level of involvement outside of weekly check-ins is up to you. Mentors rave about the extra time they spend attending activities like sports games and milestones like birthday parties, graduations, and quinceañeras. Volunteer: Build Connections between the Little Free Library organization and Independent BooksellersAs a part of our mission to build community and increase book access, we’ve begun connecting stewards with their local booksellers through the LFL-Friendly Bookseller’s Directory. A crucial piece of this project is to reach out and ask booksellers to offer benefits to stewards, such as discounts, book donations, or event space discounts for meetups. We need your help to share information with booksellers about how they can support their local LFL stewards! How to get started: Sign up on the Little Free Library volunteer website. If it's your first time volunteering with Team LFL, you will be asked to create an account in our volunteer hub. Purpose: By helping connect Little Free Library stewards to local booksellers, you are helping to build community, inspire readers, and expand book access. Responsibilities: Visit local booksellers (5 minimum, but can visit as many as you'd like) to drop off information packet on the bookseller’s directory Be polite and courteous when visiting the bookseller - wait in line to speak to a staff member, don’t be pushy, encourage them to review the information and contact LFL with any questions. Create a list of local booksellers that you plan to visit. Check the existing map to see which booksellers are already listed - you don’t need to go to any that are already listed! Use booksellers’ associations (MIBA, CALIBA, etc.) to find booksellers near you (if you don’t already know them!) Visit bookstores, use the provided Excel template to record who you’ve visited, and submit sheet to us via Givepulse. As an incentive for completing this volunteer opportunity, you will be entered in a giveaway to receive a $50 gift card to the local bookseller of your choice. Record your impact using Givepulse. Volunteer: Volunteer Online as a Conversation PartnerReady to change a life from the comfort of home? Join ENGin as a conversation partner and be matched with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one-on-one English conversations. In just one hour a week, you can help someone build confidence, break the language barrier, and feel supported, all while discovering a new culture and making a genuine human connection. We’ll pair you up with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one hour videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll facilitate English practice for your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection. Our only requirements for volunteers are English fluency, a strong internet connection, and the ability to commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian language is needed to volunteer with ENGin. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences. Our friendly team is available to support you throughout your time with us. Since our launch in 2020, ENGin has matched over 30,000 volunteers with Ukrainians for authentic English-language connection across borders, and we continue to grow every day. 99% of our learners report feeling they were able to break the language barrier as a participant in our program, and 79% of our participants form lasting friendships. We're incredibly proud of these results, and we can't wait to welcome you into this global community of volunteers making them possible. Here's what three ENGin volunteers say about their experience. "I made a friend in Ukraine and we are teaching each other about our culture, our language, and our humor. We're even trading dad jokes! Both of us look forward to our chats and have a hard time wrapping it up." “Fantastic organization doing great work. So happy to be a small part of it. My partner and I have worked together for two years and have become good friends! Her English has become better, and I have become more knowledgeable about Ukraine!” "This program has been, I think, life-changing for both of us. I really consider her more like my daughter right now. That's how close we have become!" Ready to Get Started? Rally Club Seattle is recruiting mentors for its “lunch bunch” group mentor community. Programming takes place onsite at Greenlake Elementary School in NE Seattle (2400 N 65th St, Seattle, WA 98103) weekly on Mondays from 12-1pm.
