Join us at Seed2Fork Farm as we prepare for the upcoming growing season! Volunteers will help set up the farm’s aquaponic system, laying the groundwork for a sustainable, soil-free growing process that integrates fish and plant production. 

There’s plenty of work in the garden, too. Tasks may include clearing beds, preparing soil, organizing tools and supplies, and getting planting spaces ready for spring crops. This hands-on project directly supports local food production and helps ensure the farm is ready for a successful season of growth.

Washington West African Center (WAWAC)

The Washington West African Center is seeking a compassionate and reliable volunteer to support our growing community programs. As more families reach out for help with housing, immigration support, cultural programs, and social services, we need a dedicated volunteer to manage incoming calls and ensure every community member receives timely, respectful assistance.

The Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for callers seeking information or support. You will help community members navigate our services, route calls to the right departments, and ensure that every person who contacts us feels welcomed and heard. This role is essential to strengthening our responsiveness and improving access to resources for West African families across Snohomish County.

Answer and manage incoming calls with professionalism and warmth

Listen to callers’ needs and direct them to the appropriate staff or program

Provide basic information about WAWAC services, events, and resources

Take accurate messages and ensure follow‑up when needed

Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care

Track call volume and common questions to support service improvements

Assist with light administrative or communication tasks as needed

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

Support your community by helping individuals and families access free, high‑quality tax preparation services through the IRS‑sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. As a VITA Volunteer with the Washington West African Center, you will assist community members—especially immigrants, low‑income households, and English‑language learners—in filing accurate tax returns and accessing eligible credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC).

Volunteers may serve as tax preparers, intake specialists, interpreters, or quality reviewers depending on interest and training. No prior tax experience is required—free IRS‑certified training is provided.

This role is ideal for anyone passionate about financial empowerment, community service, or gaining hands‑on experience in tax preparation, client services, or nonprofit work.

Assisting clients with tax preparation

Offering language interpretation (if applicable)

Using IRS‑approved tax software

Communicating clearly and respectfully with diverse community members

We also fight hunger by providing low-income individuals with seeds and materials, and supporting backyard gardeners in donating fruits and vegetables grown in King County.

Dig into soil, plant, weed, and harvest much-needed fresh food for our neighbors as you connect with your team. With the rising cost of food, our local communities rely on fresh produce from Marra Farm more than ever. Help us grow healthy and culturally appropriate food for our neighbors in need!

Time Commitment

Help us kick off the growing season in March and April, or support us during the highest need months of July through September. We’ve already set aside most Tuesdays from 9am to 2pm during the growing season for large-group work parties, preferably with 20 or more volunteers. We encourage you to sign up for a full shift, but we ask for a minimum of three hours. Teams can consist of coworkers, community or church group members, or neighbors. All are welcome!

Knit-It-Alls (KIA) Volunteers knit and crochet throughout the year to create warm winter clothing for low-income families and/or people experiencing homelessness in Seattle/King County. Mentors help recently arrived refugees become acquainted with the surrounding community and face the challenges of resettling in a new country. This is a critical period when refugees need assistance learning the basics of life in a new place, including things like public transportation, the banking system, public schools, managing personal healthcare, conversational English and getting involved in their community. Mentors meet with an individual or a family for two hours per week during their first three months in the U.S.

For the past four years, the Washington West African Center has proudly organized the Sounds of Africa Festival, a cultural celebration that showcases African music, fashion, food, and traditions while bringing together communities across Snohomish County.

The 2026 edition of the festival (Sounds of Africa 4.0) will take place on August 15, 2026, at Garfield Park.

Clarke Beach Park is nestled beautifully along Lake Washington, with trails and beach access. Upland from the water is an old forest with large conifer trees, and plenty of bird activity. The understory of this park is filled with non-native plants like ivy and blackberry. These weeds are making it hard for conifer trees to naturally regenerate, and preventing other native plants from growing. At this clean-up event we’ll focus on removing these weeds to help create a healthier future for this lovely forest.

All ages welcome, no experience required. Gloves, tools, and small snacks provided.

Please note: we require participants aged 14 and under to volunteer with a parent or guardian at a ratio of 1 adult to 3 kids.

When: Saturday, May 16th, 10am-1pm

Where: Clarke Beach Park

Pioneer Park Event

Enjoy the towering trees, listen to the birds, and give a little back to this beautiful park by removing common ivy that is taking over the understory of Pioneer Park’s SE quadrant. It will be a great chance to get your hands in the dirt, learn about native plants and our local forests, and work alongside neighbors and friends!

All ages welcome, and no experience necessary! Gloves, tools, water, and small snacks provided. Please note: we require participants aged 14 and under to volunteer with a parent or guardian at a ratio of 1 adult to 3 kids.

When: Saturday, May 2nd, 10am-1pm

Where: Pioneer Park SE, follow volunteer event signs

We are celebrating 120 years of Neighborhood House!

Since 1906, Neighborhood House has been showing up. For families finding their footing in a new country. For kids who need a safe place to learn. For elders navigating systems that weren’t built for them. For anyone who’s been told they don’t belong.

What Matters Most is where we come together—community members, partners, supporters—to celebrate the work, hear the stories, and keep it going. Food, drinks, performances, and real talk about what it takes to build belonging in Seattle.

Your ticket supports housing, education, adult education, employment, youth & family services, health programs, and everything in between. Because this work doesn’t stop, and neither will we.

Launch is thrilled to be bringing back our Family Carnival “Fun”draiser for the 3 year in a row! Our carnival has quickly become a beloved community tradition - guests enjoy game booths, face painting, crafts, food, face painting, and connection. The Carnival is our biggest, most important fundraiser of the year designed to celebrate the heart and soul of Launch - our students! Through community connection, we aim to highlight the importance of equitable, accessible childcare and educational justice as essential pillars of a healthy, thriving society. This year's carnival will be held at the Rainier Community Center, from 12PM -3PM on May 30th, 2026. You can see more information about our past Carnival events on our website! 

We are looking for volunteers to assist in the day's events and be part of our fundraising efforts! Volunteers would be looking at a minimum of a two-hour shift commitment, between the hours of 10AM to 5PM, with the event taking place from 12PM-3PM. We are enthusiastic about supporting our volunteers's interests and skills, so any specific expertise you may bring will be greatly appreciated! With this, we will also be looking to fill a couple "roles" during the event to help with operations. Volunteers can sign up for a specific role or can work in multiple roles during the event if they choose. A brief VIRTUAL volunteer orientation will be held the week before the event to go over any specific details for roles, and to foster open discussion about volunteer operations. Below are some brief descriptions of some of these "roles": 

Floater (Inside/Outside): General volunteer who will fill in where needed (particularly at the Site Game Booths on the Field)

Cake Walk (Inside): Help run the Cake Walk – a game where guests can participate with a suggested donation of $5. Guests stand on 1 of 12 numbers in a circle, music plays, when the music stops the Cake Walk coordinator will draw a number and the winner will be able to select any cake from the table of treats! We will have 2 rounds of the Cake Walk (from 12:30pm – 1pm and 2:30pm – 3pm). One volunteer will take tickets, one will help with music, and one will help with cakes.

Facepainting (Outside): Guests can have their faces painted (suggested donation: $5). We will provide face paint, glitter, stencils, and water tattooes.

Welcome/Ticketing (Inside): Welcome guests and distribute pre-paid, pre-sorted Admission wristbands. Volunteer will also have a Clover device to sell game tickets, admission tickets, and tickets for Cake Walk, Facepainting, and Soak the Teacher.

Volunteer Check In (Inside): Check volunteers in and give them their Volunteer badges, wristbands, and assignments.

Snack Booth (Outside): Volunteer will sell treats and snacks to guests and will operate a Clover device for payment.

We need your help to share information with booksellers about how they can support their local LFL stewards!

How to get started: Sign up on the Little Free Library volunteer website. If it's your first time volunteering with Team LFL, you will be asked to create an account in our volunteer hub. After you register, you will be instructed to compile a list of local booksellers you’d like to visit and submit it to us. After we receive your list, we will send you a packet of materials to distribute while you’re visiting the booksellers .

Visit local booksellers (5 minimum, but can visit as many as you'd like) to drop off information packet on the bookseller’s directory

Be polite and courteous when visiting the bookseller - wait in line to speak to a staff member, don’t be pushy, encourage them to review the information and contact LFL with any questions.

Create a list of local booksellers that you plan to visit. 

Check the existing map to see which booksellers are already listed - you don’t need to go to any that are already listed!

Use booksellers’ associations (MIBA, CALIBA, etc.) to find booksellers near you (if you don’t already know them!)

Visit bookstores, use the provided Excel template to record who you’ve visited, and submit sheet to us via Givepulse.

Role Overview 

Rainier Athletes' (RA) mission is to affirm our youth’s sense of purpose and belonging by intentionally connecting their core community of teachers, coaches, families, and mentors. Once selected, each student is paired with a dedicated one-on-one mentor in elementary and middle school and a Squad Leader in high school. Each student is also sponsored to participate in sports/extra-curricular activities year-round throughout their duration with Rainer Athletes. Students begin their RA journey in 4th grade and continue through high school graduation and beyond.  

To sustain our impact with the growing number of Rainier Athletes high school students and families, we are seeking enthusiastic, dedicated individuals to serve as Squad Leaders for small groups of high school students. Squads consist of four or five students of similar ages. Squad Leaders are tasked with building relationships with students in their squad(s) as well as their students’ families, teachers, and others in the community. 

Responsibilities include coordinating logistics and prepping for weekly hour-long Squad Meet-Ups. These Squad Meet-Ups may include topical discussions, study sessions, or other activities to strengthen relationships and build towards each student’s next step plan after high school. Collaboration is a key element to the program’s success; Squad Leaders will have hour-long weekly formal opportunities to connect with other Squad Leaders and RA’s High School Program Manager to share highlights, challenges, and best practices.

Join our Volunteer team to help Meals on Wheels in King County fight hunger! As a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, you will belong to a team committed to helping homebound seniors maintain their health and independence with nutritious food, personal contact, and caring service.

Alternate Driver: A volunteer is needed to deliver meals in Burien on Wednesday mornings, as needed. Drivers pick up meals between 10:30 am - 11 am and are typically done with their route in 1-1.5 hours. This volunteer is someone who is ready to step in when needed, ensuring consistency and support to help keep our services running smoothly.

Qualifications: Commitment to the well-being of elders, good communication and people skills, reliability, and good cheer. This is an on-going volunteer commitment and we are looking for someone available long-term.

Requirements: Complete an application, consent to a background check, be able to lift 15lbs, be at least 18 years of age, and have a Washington state driver's license and auto insurance.

The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Coordinator will assist in leading chapter activities by providing administrative support to the DAT program. Also, works with other chapter leadership to define and articulate the overall strategy for the Disaster Action Team program.

Enhance your customer service skills and gain experience working directly in healthcare setting. Staff reception area, support donor check-in process with their appointment time, ask donors to read required medical material, and make telephone calls for reminders and additional follow up. 

Support hospitality experience by offering refreshments and giving immediate attention to anyone feeling unwell. Invite donors to to return by providing educational information about the positive impact and lifesaving service of blood donations.

The Red Cross Logistics Fulfillment Service Associate plays an essential role in disaster response operations by ensuring that congregate shelters receive the necessary supplies. From procuring materials to delivering them efficiently, our logistics team is the backbone of our relief efforts.

Duty Officer (disaster hotline volunteer)- The Duty officer is the first line of contact for First Responders. Police/Fire/Ambulance calls the Red Cross disaster hotline and the Duty Officer is the one that receives the call, takes down all the pertinent information, and then calls the DAT team and relays the information (Example: Home fire at __ location, 4 Adults, 2 kids, a dog and a cat all need services). Then the DAT team responds in person to the event and provides immediate assistance. Calls are relayed from the hotline to your personal cell phone.

Duty Officers coordinate with our Disaster Action Team members to initialize a disaster or emergency response. When a fire, flood, or other disaster occurs, our central Hotline phone will forward to your personal cell phone. You then contact our team members to dispatch them to respond to various situations.

Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing.

Our DAT team is responsible for:

Providing timely in-person response to disasters and assisting those affected. Responding to disaster scenes as assigned by Team Leader within two hours. Meet the needs of those affected by disasters such as the need for shelter and food by providing Red Cross Services.
