Volunteer: You Grow Girl! Volunteer Committees

You Grow Girl! is recruiting committee members to serve in 2022 and 2023. Below is an overview of committee responsibilities and goals. 

You Grow Girl! Committees are made up of six or more members and are led by a board member or staff leader. Committees meet monthly and work together, about 5 hours per month, to accomplish goals.

Adopt Her Family

Raise funds or in-kind contributions to create 100 fully filled care packages for participants that include: 1 $100 Target gift cards  1 $100 for groceries 1 $50 self-care gift card Distribute, promote and collect at least 15 boxes to solicit in kind items from corporate and community partners Coordinate care package creation and wrapping volunteer day (second week of December) and distribution to participants at shopping day (third week of December) Work with other committees to promote Adopt Her Family opportunities year-round Create social media campaign during final push around the holidays to raise awareness and generate support

Advocacy

Research, identify city/county/state flawed systems interfering with resource accessibility for mental health and substance treatment for female identifying youth, especially those of color Develop advocacy messaging (phone, direct mail, social media), identify change makers and elected officials and propose strategies You Grow Girl! can use to address issues facing female identifying youth, especially African American and others of color including: Limited resources for research and development of culturally responsive evidence-based practices and prevention programming Limited resources allocated to support the implementation of culturally responsive job training and education programs The need for both more and unrestricted and flexible for the sustainability and continuum of services for youth serving organizations

Corporate Partnership and Sponsorships

Develop 10 sustainable corporate partnerships at various levels from $5k to $50k to include financial support as well as program support (host program participants for paid internship, tour, job shadow, etc.)

Finance

Adopt and maintain controls for quarterly and annual audits, enhance controls, work with staff as needed to ensure implementation Review IRS Form 990 and budget annually, work with Executive Director to steward through board approval process and ensure official submissions Generate and review monthly financial reports, provide quarterly updates to board of directors Create, maintain and offer fiduciary governance training for board members Provide training to other committees as needed

House Parties

Support every board member to host at least one in person or virtual You Grow Girl! themed house party (i.e., Fill Her Purse/Backpack, Roaring $20s, Paint & Sip, etc.) Invite and support non board volunteers to host or co-host at least 4 house parties, work with ED to generate this outreach list Ensure You Grow Girl! donors also get invited to house parties, work with ED to generate this invite list

Phone-A-Thon

Host 3 Phone-A-Thon events with 100% board and 100% staff participation, one in August (solicitation to raise $5k for fall programming) and one in November (gratitude for 100 investors or families) and one in February (advocacy) Recruit 4 additional volunteers to participate in each Phone-A-Thon, work with ED to generate this outreach list through participants, volunteers, and donor database Provide snacks, training, materials and incentives for Phone-A-Thon participants Work with ED to solidify the call to action and script
