Family Resource Fair Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming, supportive, and engaging experience for families attending this special event. The fair is centered on celebrating families and connecting them with essential resources, services, and basic needs that support housing stability and overall well-being.

As a volunteer, you’ll help ensure the event runs smoothly while contributing to a positive and uplifting environment for all participants. This is a hands-on opportunity to directly support families in our community.

Volunteer responsibilities may include:

Assisting with event setup and takedown (tables, chairs, signage, and supplies) Greeting and welcoming families as they arrive Helping guide families throughout the event and answering basic questions Supporting activity stations or resource areas Assisting with the distribution of essential items such as hygiene products, diapers, or food (as available)

Your time and support help create a warm, organized, and family-centered space where individuals can access critical resources, connect with community partners, and feel valued and supported.

Volunteer Role: Donation Drive Host

Overview:
As a Donation Drive Host, you’ll help support families in need by rallying your community to collect essential items for our Family Store. This is a flexible, impactful way to make a difference—perfect for individuals, workplaces, faith groups, schools, and community clubs.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate a donation drive at your school, workplace, place of worship, or with your personal network. Choose your drive focus (e.g., clothing, hygiene supplies, children’s books, diapers). Promote your drive using flyers, email, or social media (we’ll provide templates!). Collect, sort, and label donations. Deliver items to Wellspring Family Services Monday-Friday 9am-4:30pm

Time Commitment:

Flexible! Most drives run 2–4 weeks, but timing can be customized to your schedule.

Support Provided:

We’ll provide a Donation Drive Toolkit with everything you need to get started—flyers, item lists, collection box signage, and tips for success. [AB1]  Staff support is available for questions or guidance throughout the process.

Impact:
Your efforts directly support local families by stocking our Family Store with high-need items—ensuring parents and children have access to the essentials they need to thrive.

Volunteer Role: Family Store Assistant

Overview:
As a Family Store Assistant, you’ll play a vital behind-the-scenes role in helping families access essential items. Instead of in-person shopping, families place requests, and volunteers like you carefully pack customized orders with care and dignity. Your attention to detail helps ensure that families receive exactly what they need.

Responsibilities:

Pick and pack orders for families based on specific item requests (clothing, books, baby items, hygiene products, etc.) Sort and organize incoming donations to restock shelves and bins Check donated items for quality and cleanliness Label and prepare completed orders for distribution Help maintain a clean, organized, and respectful workspace

Time Commitment:

Shifts typically 2–3 hours Weekday availability between 10am-4pm Flexible scheduling available Willingness to volunteer across several months, promoting continuity, relationship-building, and reliable support for Wellspring's mission.

 

Skills Needed:

Reliable, detail-oriented, and organized Able to follow packing instructions and handle donated items with care Comfortable working independently or as part of a small team Ability to stand, walk, or lift light items as needed (accommodations available)[KL1]  No prior experience necessary, just a willingness to help!

Support Provided:

On-site training during your first shift Guidance from staff and experienced volunteers All materials and packing tools provided

Every packed order represents dignity and relief for a family in need. Your time ensures that guardians receive essential items for their children—quickly, accurately, and with compassion.

Do you love to knit? Join our community of compassionate crafters! As a member of the Wellspring Knitting Group, you’ll help create handmade items—such as hats, scarves, and blankets—that bring warmth and comfort to families and children in need.

Responsibilities:

Knit or crochet handmade items to donate to families served by Wellspring Use your own materials or pick up donated yarn and supplies (when available) Join group meet-ups (in person or virtual) to connect with fellow knitters and share your progress Follow simple item guidelines (we’ll provide patterns and preferred sizes)

Time Commitment:

Flexible! Knit on your own schedule or join regular group sessions Ongoing opportunity with no minimum hours required

Skills Needed:

Basic knitting or crocheting skills Willingness to contribute time and creativity to support local families Open to learning or sharing tips with other crafters (all skill levels welcome!)

Support Provided:

Access to patterns and donation guidelines Group support and optional knit-alongs or meet-ups Occasional supplies provided as available
