Volunteer: Homebound Senior Outreach Volunteer!As a "Friendly Visitor" for our Outreach Program, you will be matched up by our Social Worker with a senior who has expressed feelings of loneliness and isolation, and has difficulties getting out. This position is of a very personal nature, and we need volunteers who are dedicated to providing consistent attention that creates a positive experience as well as developing a long-term relationship with their matched senior. The Outreach Volunteer is supervised by the Social Worker who reserves the right to use their discretion about making a match with the ultimate safety of the senior always at the heart of the match. Activities & Expectations may include: Regular weekly or bi-monthly visits with your matched senior Periodical trainings Driving to and from senior's home, and/or taking person to appointments Checking in with Social Worker about visits, progress, and any noted concernsSchedule/ Commitment: Shifts are 2-4 hours in duration, and a commitment of at least 6 months is appreciated so that training and relationship developing with matched senior can be supported. The ultimate goal is to help the senior in need to help the senior in need to feel supported and better connected to the community. Weekly visits are desired, and scheduling is up to you, so there is room for a flexible schedule.Qualifications/ Requirements: Compassionate, tolerant and understanding people with good listening skills are wanted. You must be able to visit on your own, so a car is desirable, but not necessary. A copy of your driver's license and proof of car insurance is necessary if you will be driving. Unfortunately, we simply do not have enough volunteer drivers to meet their needs. We urgently need to recruit more volunteers to transport elders from Duvall, Carnation, Fall City and Snoqualmie to doctor visits in Issaquah, Redmond, Bellevue and Kirkland. You can make a huge difference in a person's life, for a small once a month commitment (or more if you can!)
