As a "Friendly Visitor" for our Outreach Program, you will be matched up by our Social Worker with a senior who has expressed feelings of loneliness and isolation, and has difficulties getting out. This position is of a very personal nature, and we need volunteers who are dedicated to providing consistent attention that creates a positive experience as well as developing a long-term relationship with their matched senior. The Outreach Volunteer is supervised by the Social Worker who reserves the right to use their discretion about making a match with the ultimate safety of the senior always at the heart of the match.

Activities & Expectations may include:

Regular weekly or bi-monthly visits with your matched senior Periodical trainings Driving to and from senior's home, and/or taking person to appointments Checking in with Social Worker about visits, progress, and any noted concerns

Schedule/ Commitment:

Shifts are 2-4 hours in duration, and a commitment of at least 6 months is appreciated so that training and relationship developing with matched senior can be supported. The ultimate goal is to help the senior in need to help the senior in need to feel supported and better connected to the community.  Weekly visits are desired, and scheduling is up to you, so there is room for a flexible schedule.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

Compassionate, tolerant and understanding people with good listening skills are wanted. You must be able to visit on your own, so a car is desirable, but not necessary. A copy of your driver's license and proof of car insurance is necessary if you will be driving.  Also required; completing a volunteer application and WA state background check.

Help support our volunteer-run, reception/front desk position. Be the face of the Sno-Valley Senior Center by answering and directing phone calls, greeting visitors and members, answering question and generally assisting members and guest. We are looking for friendly, outgoing and communicative individuals who can work 4 hours on a weekly basis. This position is key to helping our day-to-day operations move smoothly.

• Greeting members, visitors and staff

• Collecting money, writing receipts and logging money transactions

We sell donated items, utilizing the proceeds to fund senior programs and services. We are looking for volunteers to sort, price and display merchandise, who are comfortable with numbers and customer service. If you're friendly, honest, reasonable organized and like a good deal, this is a great opportunity! The store is adorable and the staff is a fun bunch. Come check out our ever changing inventory and receive your volunteer discount on items you purchase.

Do you enjoy working in the kitchen, prepping, serving, cleaning up? WE need your skills to help prepare and serve nutritious meals at Sno-Valley Senior Center for seniors and guests. We have a lot of fun, and you will be well appreciated by clients and staff!

You should be comfortable with some cleaning and dish-washing work, as well as some light lifting. A food handler's permit is required and can be easily obtained online. (You will be director about how to complete this). 

Tasks may include:

Setting tables Serving lunch Cleaning up the dining room/ kitchen Washing dishes Following recipes (cook, chop, and bake)

Transportation is one of the top problems facing Snoqualmie Valley Seniors. More and more are turning to the Volunteer Transportation Program for help. Unfortunately, we simply do not have enough volunteer drivers to meet their needs. We urgently need to recruit more volunteers to transport elders from Duvall, Carnation, Fall City and Snoqualmie to doctor visits in Issaquah, Redmond, Bellevue and Kirkland. You can make a huge difference in a person's life, for a small once a month commitment (or more if you can!)

Volunteer Drivers:

Provides rides using their own vehicles Choose times, days, and areas they wish to drive Receive reimbursement for mileage and parking costs Receive supplemental liability insurance at no cost Do no heavy lifting or bearing of weight
