Volunteer: Field Organizing for OneAmerica

Position Title: Field Organizer

Purpose: Field organizing is one of our most important areas to volunteer. The primary responsibility of an FO is to recruit, manage, and train volunteers to organize their communities and neighborhoods into teams that register, persuade, and motivate voters.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Their responsibilities include but are not limited to developing a plan to organize their turf based on its unique characteristics; identifying and cultivating volunteer team leaders; planning and executing events and trainings; building relationships with community leaders; and ensuring data integrity. FOs report directly to their Senior Field Organizer.

Qualifications & Requirements: Strong candidates will have confidence in their leadership, managerial and organizational skills, have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities and functional computer competencies

Time Commitment: varied

Late May, June and July in preparation for the local and state elections for 2017 in the King County, Mt Vernon, Yakima, Vancouver and other areas.

Volunteer: Creativer Writer or Graphic Designer For OneAmerica

Creative Writer

Purpose: Many of our outreach programs connect to their members, leaders and followers through social media or monthly newsletters and blog posts. Crafting these posts is an invaluable way update our community about our activities. You don't have to be a professional writer. We are looking for individuals who have a creative voice and enjoy communicating with community audiences.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Create posts that highlight our role in various activities and outreach events, including Citizenship Days Create posts that highlight stories from our members and leaders whose work furthers our mission

Qualifications & Requirements:

Complete a volunteer application Interest in immigrant communities and sincere desire to support others in achieving their goals Ability to construct a clear message through writings and occasional photographs or other images Prior knowledge of technology (internet, email, word, etc.,) and digital literacy

Time Commitment: Once or twice per month

Purpose: Graphic design is a great way to express OneAmerica’s events and activities. Graphic design volunteers help showcase political policies about immigration, environmental justice, education, and more through memes and different graphics. We are looking for volunteers who have a basic knowledge of Photoshop, Adobe and other software programs to create visual and written displays highlighting the work of OneAmerica.

Volunteer Responsibilities: As graphic designers, responsibilities may include analyzing current Presidential events, City Council events, and other political or social events that impact our communities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Complete a volunteer application Interest in immigrant communities and sincere desire to support others in achieving their goals Ability to construct a clear message through writings and occasional photographs or other images Prior knowledge of technology (internet, email, word, etc.,) and digital literacy

Time Commitment: varied; Monday through Friday from 9 – 5 based around your schedule.

Volunteers process in-take forms from new volunteers and/or existing members and leaders to ensure our data system is current and up to date with contact information, hours volunteered, interest areas, availability and other data based information.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Transferring information from paper documents to electronic documents Updating electronic documents as needed Assist OneAmerica staff in handling paper work Assist OneAmerica staff in being more timely in requests from leaders and members Distribute information about important issues to our community and allies.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Complete a volunteer application Interest in immigrant communities and sincere desire to support others in achieving their goals Basic knowledge of word processors, databases and spreadsheets Prior knowledge of Salesforce a plus Previous data entry knowledge a plus

Time Commitment: varied; roughly 2 – 4 hours per week, a couple times per week.

This is ongoing: Monday through Friday from 9 – 5 based around your schedule.
