Opportunities From: United Way of King County

Volunteer: FEEST Board Member

FEEST is intentionally growing our Board of Directors and we are looking for passionate, commitment members to apply to join us. On the heels of the completion of our strategic plan FEEST is building strong campaigns for healthy, culturally relevant schools foods and access to clean water in schools, hosting dynamic, improvised weekly dinners in schools, and deepening our youth organizing in South King County.

Potential Board Members should be invested in youth leadership, holistic health, educational equity, and building youth power to create systems change. We are looking for Board Members reflect the experiences and neighborhoods of youth leaders from South Seattle and South King County.

FEEST Board Members commit to quarterly, day-long meetings, on-going committee work of your choice, supporting staff and youth with fundraising, and engaging with programming at least once per year. Please respond to this opportunity to learn more about applying to join our team!

FEEST’s Special Sauce

In every delicious dish there is a special sauce. Our special sauce is rooted in the value that systemic change must occur hand-in-hand with culture shift work, and that young people most impacted by systemic oppression must be at the center of creating schools and neighborhoods that are healthy, thriving spaces for all.

Our special sauce is:

Being led by and for people of color Unapologetically rooted in social justice and equity Centering youth power Fostering long-lasting leadership in youth of color and low income youth Simultaneously working to shift both culture and policy for health and food justice Creating an infectious and dynamic community at every program offering Integrating the creative-making process, arts and culture and joy at all levels of the organization Cultivating a work culture that honors and uplifts the intersections of all identities
